Flexible, shielded cable for EX zones – reliability and safety in harsh conditions

This blue OZ-BL-CY 18x1 cable is a flexible solution designed for use in explosion-hazardous areas. It is designed for intrinsically safe installations where maintaining the highest safety standards is crucial. This cable is used in control and measurement technology, and its shielding provides resistance to electromagnetic interference.

Construction and properties

The cable is characterized by a solid construction that guarantees long-lasting and reliable operation. It has 18 flexible, stranded copper conductors of class 5, which ensures flexibility and facilitates installation. Each conductor is insulated with PVC type Z 7225, and the conductors are twisted in layers with an optimal pitch. In addition, the cable has a screen made of tinned copper wire braid, which minimizes the risk of interference. The outer jacket made of PVC (type TM2) in blue (RAL 5015) provides protection against external factors and facilitates identification. The cable is metered for convenient dispensing during installation.

Application and compliance with standards

This cable is ideal for outdoor installations and in areas at risk of explosion, in accordance with DIN VDE 0165-1 / DIN EN 60079-14 / IEC 60079-14 (Section 16.2.2). It meets the requirements of IEC 60332-1-2 in terms of fire resistance (fire reaction class Eca according to EN 13501-6). This makes it perfect for intrinsically safe systems (type -i-) and as a flexible control and measuring cable in control and measurement technology. It should be noted that the cable is not intended for laying in the ground. It has a VDE-Reg.-No. 7032 certificate confirming its compliance with European quality and safety standards.

Additional information: The cable operates in a temperature range of -10°C to +80°C for flexible operation and from -40°C to +80°C for stationary operation, at a rated voltage of AC U0/U 300/500 V. The coupling resistance is approximately 250 Ohm/km at a frequency of 30 MHz, and the minimum bending radius is 10x the cable diameter for flexible operation and 5x the cable diameter for fixed installation. The material used in production does not contain silicone, cadmium or substances preventing the deposition of paint during painting and is resistant to UV radiation and weather conditions, also showing resistance to oil (detailed information available in the technical documentation).
