Flexible cable for frequency inverters – reliability and electromagnetic compatibility

This flexible 0.6/1 kV cable, designated 2YSLCYK-J, is designed for demanding power supply applications for motors controlled by frequency inverters. Its construction not only ensures effective power transmission but also minimizes electromagnetic interference, which is crucial in modern industrial automation systems. This cable is used in the automotive, food, packaging, machinery industries, as well as in air conditioning installations and pumps.

The cable is characterized by a 3 PLUS construction – a symmetrical arrangement of three core conductors and a PE protective conductor, which improves electromagnetic compatibility compared to traditional four-core cables. In addition, double shielding (aluminum tape braid and copper braid) effectively suppresses interference and ensures stable device operation. Made of high-quality materials, including XLPE core insulation and a polyethylene outer jacket, it guarantees long-lasting and reliable operation even in harsh environmental conditions.

Construction and properties

The cable consists of the following elements:

• Conductors: stranded copper class 5 (according to PN-EN 60228), providing flexibility and good conductivity.
• Insulation: special polyethylene (PE), guaranteeing high electrical and mechanical resistance.
• Shielding: double – aluminum tape and tinned copper braid – minimizes electromagnetic interference.
• Jacket: polyethylene with increased fire resistance (self-extinguishing), ensuring safe use.
• Protective conductor: green-yellow split PE twisted externally for additional safety.

Thanks to this, the cable is resistant to UV radiation, has low operating capacitance and low coupling resistance, which translates into high electromagnetic compatibility and minimizes energy losses. It is also resistant to oils and greases. The cable is metered, which facilitates its installation and adaptation to specific installation needs.

Operating parameters

This cable can be used in a wide range of temperatures: from -40°C to +70°C for stationary installations and from -5°C to +70°C for mobile installations. Its outer diameter is 35.5 mm and the permissible operating temperature of the core conductor is 70°C. The minimum bending radius for cables with a diameter of up to 12 mm is 5x the cable diameter, and above 20 mm – 10x the cable diameter. The cable operating voltage is 600/1000 V and the maximum test voltage is 2500 V. The cable meets the requirements of IEC 60332-1-2 and EN 55011 standards, confirming its safety and electromagnetic compatibility.
