SPD Parafoudre T2 4P 3+1 réseau TN-S/TT In=20kA Up≤1,35kV SPE440
Protection of installations against surges in TN-S and TT networks
The SPE440 surge arrester is a T2 type device designed to protect low-voltage electrical installations from the effects of atmospheric and switching surges. The 4-pole construction in a 3+1 configuration ensures full protection on both phase lines (L-N) and the neutral line relative to earth (N-PE). The device is dedicated to operation in TN-S and TT networks - the most popular configurations used in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings in Poland.
The rated discharge current of 20 kA (8/20 µs) defines the device's ability to safely absorb the energy of typical surges occurring in building installations. The maximum discharge capacity is 40 kA, which means a safety margin allowing for the absorption of even stronger impulses without damaging the arrester itself.
The continuous operating voltage of 275 V AC in accordance with the IEC 61643-1 standard ensures compatibility with typical network voltages in TN-S and TT systems. The voltage protection level of up to 1.35 kV (L-N) and 1.6 kV (L-PE/N-PE) effectively limits the peak value of surges to a level safe for connected receivers - from household appliances to precision electronic devices.
Modular design and status signaling
The device occupies 4 modules on a standard TH35 rail (DIN rail), allowing for easy installation in modular switchboards of any manufacturer. The housing dimensions are 96.6 × 71.2 × 71.5 mm - a compact design that will be appreciated by any installer working in switchboards with limited space.
The modular construction with replaceable protection inserts allows for quick replacement of a worn element without the need to dismantle the entire device - this is a significant advantage when servicing installations. A red-green optical indicator informs about the current operating status of each protection path without the need to perform measurements.
Screw terminals allow for the connection of solid conductors with a cross-section up to 50 mm² and flexible (multi-strand) conductors up to 35 mm². The tightening torque range of 3-3.5 Nm ensures a durable and secure electrical connection.
Operating parameters and exploitation conditions
The device operates in temperatures from −40 to +85°C, making it suitable for both indoor installations in heated rooms and technical switchboards or external connections - anywhere where the temperature may drop below zero.
The rated frequency of 50-60 Hz covers the standard power grid parameters occurring both in Europe and beyond. The maximum overcurrent protection in a parallel connection is 315 A, which allows for installation without the need to use additional fuses before the arrester - provided that the rated current of the connection does not exceed this value.
IP2XC protection protects terminals against finger contact and solid foreign bodies >50 mm - this is standard protection for devices mounted inside switchboards.
Compliance with standards and environmental aspects
The SPE440 arrester meets the requirements of class T2 according to the IEC 61643 standard, confirming its suitability for use as a second stage of surge protection - after a T1 type arrester installed at the building entrance or as a standalone protection in installations without an external lightning protection system.
The product is completely halogen-free - the housing and structural elements do not release corrosive flammable gases during potential overheating, which is important when assessing the fire safety of the switchboard. The device is also compliant with the REACH regulation and the RoHS directive, confirming the absence of SVHC (substances of very high concern) and hazardous substances in the product composition.
