This tripolar circuit breaker from the Acti9 iC60 series is designed for precise protection of circuits where sensitivity to small overloads is crucial, while resistance to short-term current surges is required. Thanks to the Z type tripping characteristic, the device reacts significantly faster than standard type B or C breakers, making it an ideal choice for installations powering electronic devices, sensors, rectifiers, or LED lighting systems that are sensitive to voltage surges. The rated current of 2 A allows for safe operation in low power consumption circuits, protecting them from damage even with minimal deviations from the norm.

Key design features and operational safety

The apparatus combines industrial parameters with the ease of installation typical of construction solutions. Its design is based on a solid base that guarantees reliability in difficult environmental conditions.

  • Visi-Trip and Visi-Safe status indicators: A two-color indicator is located on the front of the housing. The red color signals an electrical trip (short-circuit or overload), allowing for quick localization of the fault cause without needing to dismantle the device. Conversely, the green color informs of the physical opening of the contacts (OFF position), which is crucial for safety during service work – the installer is assured that the circuit is disconnected.
  • Double terminals and installation flexibility: The device allows for the connection of conductors with cross-sections from 1 to 25 mm² (single-core) and 1 to 16 mm² (multi-core). The possibility of connecting two conductors of different cross-sections in a single terminal facilitates the branching of installations without the need for additional distribution blocks.
  • Quick removal: Thanks to the double latch system, the apparatus can be removed from the DIN rail without tools and without the need to dismantle the busbar. This significantly accelerates modernization or repair work in switchboards.
  • Protection against electric shock: The screw terminals are insulated and have an IP20 protection rating, which minimizes the risk of accidental contact with live parts during work or installation.

Application and resistance to external conditions

This breaker is not limited to typical domestic applications. Its parameters allow for installation in industrial and commercial environments where specific operating conditions exist:

The Z type tripping characteristic makes the device ideal for protecting control systems, sensors, and control transformers. In these applications, inrush currents are low but critical for system stability – a too-slow reaction from a standard breaker could lead to damage to delicate electronics. Meanwhile, the high breaking capacity of up to 100 kA at 230 V and 400 V ensures safety even in main industrial switchboards with high network short-circuit power, where a failure could have catastrophic consequences.

The device features a wide operating temperature range from -35°C to +70°C. This allows it to be installed in unheated production halls, technical containers, or outdoor rooms (provided there is protection from direct sunlight and rain), where other breakers might fail or operate inaccurately. Additionally, energy limitation class 3 means the fastest reaction to a short circuit – the device "dampens" the short-circuit current before it reaches its peak value, protecting connected devices from thermal and mechanical damage resulting from the flow of enormous energy in a fraction of a second.

Due to compliance with industrial standards IEC/EN 60947-2 and residential construction standards IEC/EN 60898-1, this model offers universal application both in new residential installations (e.g., as protection for dedicated circuits) andin expanded building or industrial automation systems. The rated insulation voltage is 500 V, and the rated impulse withstand voltage is up to 6 kV, providing an additional safety margin during sudden voltage surges in the network.
