Coude double cloche 90° 35 mm – acier carbone galvanisé à paroi mince, sertissable PC5002 0350000
Application and characteristics of the 90-degree elbow for press-fit systems
This fitting is designed to create tight, durable connections in piping installations where a 90-degree change in flow direction is required. Thanks to the use of hot-dip galvanized carbon steel, the product offers corrosion resistance under standard environmental conditions, which is crucial for indoor installations. The "double-bell" construction means that both ends of the fitting are prepared for the same type of connection – a press-fit coupling. This eliminates the need for the installer to seek additional transitions or reducers, ensuring mechanical consistency throughout the system. A maximum working pressure of 16 bar at 20°C allows safe use of this elbow in typical water supply installations and low-pressure heating systems.
Construction and installation principles
The component is manufactured as a single-piece unit (one-piece model), eliminating the risk of leaks resulting from joining multiple elements. Both sides of the connector have an outer diameter of 35 mm, making it ideal for piping systems with this nominal diameter. A key structural feature is the presence of a stop collar. This technical solution has practical significance during installation – it prevents the pipe from sliding too far into the fitting before proper pressing, ensuring precise alignment and repeatable connections.
The joining process requires the use of a dedicated pressing tool (press). Traditional threaded tightening or soldering is not used.
- Preparation: The pipe must be cut squarely and deburred.
- Installation: The pipe is inserted into the bell until it contacts the stop collar.
- Pressing: The tool compresses the fitting onto the pipe, permanently deforming the material and creating a tight mechanical seal.
It is worth noting that no traditional rubber gasket sealing material is used here (as in some other systems), since tightness is achieved through metal deformation and the precision of the bell and pipe manufacturing. The surface treatment of both ends is raw with an electrolytic/hot-dip galvanized coating, protecting the steel from rusting at the point of contact with the pipe.
Applications and technical limitations
The product is primarily used in sanitary installations (cold and hot water) and heating systems where flow velocity and pressure remain within the strength limits of galvanized carbon steel. Due to the lack of UL or FM certifications, it should not be used in installations requiring specialized fire safety approvals or in specific industrial environments with heightened safety requirements (e.g., certain fire suppression systems).
Thanks to its versatility and ease of installation, this double-bell elbow accelerates the installer's work – it does not require additional operations such as threading or soldering, which are time-consuming and require specialized skills or gas/liquid equipment. At the same time, it guarantees the end-user a durable piping infrastructure resistant to hydraulic overloads typical of domestic water installations. It should be noted that the product does not include a drain valve or air vent – these functions are performed by other system components or manual procedures during system filling. The dimensions of the component are a total length of 70 mm with a 90-degree bend angle, allowing precise planning of pipe routes without unnecessary material surplus.
