Soft starters – smooth start and motor protection

The compact PSR30-600-11 soft starter is a solution designed for smooth starting and stopping of three-phase motors. The device limits inrush currents, reducing the mechanical and electrical load on the motor and the power supply network. This extends the motor's life and improves the reliability of the entire system. The built-in bypass contactor minimizes energy losses after the start-up is complete, and easy configuration using three potentiometers significantly simplifies the start-up process.

The PSR soft starter is ideal for both installers and end users. Installers will appreciate the simplicity of installation and configuration, and users – reliable operation and motor protection. The device will work in various industrial applications, such as pumps, fans, compressors or conveyors. The ability to operate in a temperature range up to -25°C makes it suitable for use in harsh environmental conditions.

Construction features and functionality

The PSR30-600-11 soft starter offers a wide range of operating voltages (208...600 V AC) and control voltages (24 V AC/DC), ensuring compatibility with various installations. Smooth start with adjustable voltage ramp and smooth stop minimize mechanical shocks, protecting the motor from damage. The built-in bypass contactor effectively reduces energy losses during operation at constant rotational speed. Additionally, the device has RUN and TOR (Top of Ramp) output signals allowing monitoring of the motor's operating status.

The device is characterized by a rated operating current of 30 A, operates in a voltage range from 208 to 600 V AC and allows controlling motors with a power of up to 15 kW at 400V. The control voltage is 24 V AC/DC, and the degree of protection is IP20. The soft starter operates as a unidirectional circuit.

The device complies with IEC standards and has safety certificates, guaranteeing its reliable operation in demanding industrial conditions. The possibility of connecting to the ABB MMS motor manual starter facilitates the construction of complete starting solutions with full protection against overload and short circuit. Additionally, the functionality of the soft starter can be optionally extended with Fieldbus communication using an external adapter.
