Hager offers a small, five-row electrical distribution board that allows for the correct installation of equipment with a total volume of 60 modules. The distribution board is designed for flush mounting and in stud walls.
How to choose a switchboard for 60 modules?
According to the PN-HD 60364-4-41:2009 standard, which concerns protection against electric shock, low-voltage electrical installations should be equipped with highly sensitive differential circuit breakers with a rated current not exceeding 20 A. Currently, such circuits constitute the equipment of most apartments and houses. Differential protection devices require more space in the electrical switchboard than standard overcurrent protection devices. Therefore, Hager , as the first manufacturer, offered a five-row, small switchboard enabling the correct installation of equipment with a total volume of 60 modules.
The 5x12 Hager distribution board has been designed for flush mounting and in stud walls. The increased space ensures user safety while providing comfort when installing equipment inside the distribution board. In addition to the additional mounting space, the new 5-row designs provide all the benefits of the tried and tested solutions from the Volta series. These are various functions that speed up and facilitate installation.

An additional convenience for installers is the standard spirit level, which makes the installation more efficient and precise.
The particularly large connection space, equipped with QuickConnect self-clamps and cable fixing brackets in the side parts of the switchboard, allows for the wiring of the switchboard at the highest technical level in a transparent and safe manner. The comb clips, which are located in the lower and upper parts of the switchboard, allow for mechanical fixing (with clamps) of the cables, which is particularly important in the case of installation in stud walls.
An additional convenience for installers is the standard level, thanks to which the installation is more efficient and precise. A special retaining clip is also helpful, mounted on the switchboard door, where we can place electrical documentation. In the case when it is required to mount the switchboard in a recess with a smaller depth than recommended for installation, it is possible to use special elements allowing for installation in a recess with a depth of 72 mm. In order to confirm safety, Volta switchboards have been tested in accordance with PN-EN 61439-3: Distribution boards intended for operation by unauthorized persons.
According to the cited part of the standard, DBO switchboards should have IK05 strength for indoor applications and IK07 for outdoor applications. Volta meets the IK07 strength requirement. It has also been tested for overvoltage category III, which involves resistance to a voltage impulse of 4 kV. This parameter is important for the proper selection of surge protectors.
In addition to the additional installation space, the new 5-row designs offer all the existing benefits of the tried and tested Volta series solutions.
Hager Volta electrical switchboard housing - execution
The material from which the switchboard housing is made has an impact on aesthetics, comfort of use, and safety. Volta flush-mounted switchboards are equipped with metal doors with a frame, which can be manufactured from powder-coated sheet metal as standard. Modern transparent versions are also available, made of stainless steel or aluminum, or special ones, with space for a photo or an evacuation route map.
The internal part has protection against electric shock, providing a second, increased level of insulation. In switchboards mounted in skeleton walls, it is necessary to use housings made of a special material. Such a switchboard is subjected to the glow wire test up to 850°C in accordance with the EN 60695-2-1 standard. This condition is met by the material used in Volta switchboards in the VHxxx version. On the other hand, models for installation in flame retardant walls are tested using the glow wire method up to 650°C.
Switchgears must be checked for mechanical strength each time, in accordance with the EN 50102/A1 standard. It is worth adding that, in the interests of the natural environment, Hager uses polystyrene types with a low halogen content. All products meet the ROHS and WEEE requirements.
Electrical distribution board 5x12 Hager Volta
Several years ago, Hager developed a solution for the special requirements of telecommunications installations in apartment buildings and single-family homes. The Volta multimedia product series is also available in a 5-row version. The Volta multimedia 3-, 4- and 5-row distribution boards are now equipped as standard with a 12-position patch panel for telecommunications modules, perforated mounting plates and triple, rotatable 230 V power sockets.
| Technical parameters | |
|---|---|
| Installation | flush/surface mounted |
| Degree of protection | IP30/IK07 |
| Insulation class | II |
| Material | recess box - plastic; - masking frame and door - steel sheet |
| Standard color | white (RAL 9010) |
| Surface | powder coated with varnish |
| Number of modules | from 12 to 60 |
| Standards | PN-EN 61439-3 |
The patch panel enables the installation of telecommunications modules in accordance with the regulation of the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy (Journal of Laws of 2012, item 1289) and home telecommunications installation modules. Passive or active telecommunications devices can be installed on perforated steel mounting plates. The lower part of the switchboard housing has 3 sockets with grounding for 230 V. Each socket can be freely rotated, thus avoiding collisions of plugs and adjacent power supplies. It is also possible to install another patch panel for additional modules.
Volta electrical switchboards are standardly white. The doors can be mounted on the right or left side and are equipped with ventilation holes. Electrical and telecommunications switchboards can be mounted side by side in horizontal or vertical construction thanks to the connectors.
People who pay special attention to harmony and aesthetics inside the room will undoubtedly appreciate the possibilities offered by the style of Volta switchboards. The unified color palette, adapted to current trends, perfectly matches the color palette and accessories of the polo.fiorena series. Volta multimedia switchboards 3-, 4- and 5-row are now equipped as standard with a 12-position patch panel for telecommunications modules, perforated mounting plates and triple, rotatable 230 V power sockets.
