Water treatment using sediment filters and other methods
The quality of the water you drink every day is of great importance to your health. While tap water is suitable for direct consumption, the situation is slightly different when it comes to water from your own well. It may contain large amounts of manganese, ammonia or organic pollutants. This is why it should be regularly tested and treated.
What is drinking water treatment?
In simple terms, treatment involves cleaning contaminated water and bringing it to a state that meets the parameters of drinking water. This is usually done in several stages. The first is mechanical treatment. This is where sediment filters are used, which primarily protect the installation from damage. Only the next steps allow for obtaining drinking water.
With the help of individual filters and chemicals, iron and manganese ions are removed from water. The next step is to soften the water. Its general hardness in Poland is quite high, regardless of whether it is taken from the water supply or from a domestic well. Filtering improves the taste and smell of water. Thanks to this, you can obtain tasty and completely safe drinking water for human health.
Water softening
Water softeners are used in households with hard water. The device uses ion exchange resin to remove factors that cause water hardness. This prevents calcium and magnesium ion sediment from forming.
Which water filters should I choose?
There are many filters available on the market for water treatment. They purify water from organic substances, minerals and allow for improving its quality. Which one to choose to obtain the expected effects?
Filter with pressure regulator – such filters clean from impurities using a mesh. Additionally, the pressure protects the installation from harmful effects when it is too high. Such filters have a backwash or rinse function, which allows for the removal of collected impurities outside the filter.
Sediment filter – has a settling tank that retains dirt and things that should not be in the installation. Its main task is to protect against destruction. It also acts as the first filter during the water treatment process.
Carbon filter – contaminants flowing through the filter containing activated carbon are retained in the pores. The resulting clean water has a better taste and smell.
Osmotic filter – water filtration is performed using reverse osmosis. The pressure generated pushes water molecules through the membrane, which allows for a crystal clear liquid.
Domestic water filters
Water filters are primarily dedicated to well owners. By drawing water from the waterworks, we can be sure that it is sufficiently purified. Of course, it does not hurt to improve its quality, but it is mainly in houses with their own intake that filter systems are necessary. They allow you to purify water not only from suspensions, but also chlorine and other impurities. Some models even have a positive effect on the taste and smell of water. It all depends on the type of filter, each of which has slightly different properties.
Activated carbon filters
Activated carbon filters are one of the types of filters that change the taste and smell of purified water. They eliminate chlorine and organic impurities. It is recommended to precede this type of purifier with mechanical filtration - this ensures better results. The models available in our store are characterized by a compact design and have all the necessary certificates.
Filters with mesh insert
Filters with a mesh insert are a solution designed for mechanical water purification. It should be the first stage of the entire process. This type of filter catches suspensions and does not allow larger contaminants into the installation. This in turn guarantees the correct functioning and failure-free operation of the entire system.
Y-type coarse filters
Coarse filters of the "Y" type , available in our shop, can be used to filter central heating water. Some of them take the form of magnetic filters. They work in two stages - they clean the water mechanically and then magnetically. In this way, they stop corrosion products. For this reason, it is recommended to install them, among others, before pumps, magnetizers or control and measuring equipment.
Filters with replaceable insert
Filters with replaceable inserts are the basic type of filters. They allow for mechanical water purification. Their great advantage is simple maintenance. When the string insert is worn out, simply remove it and replace it with a new one.
