The roller shutter control system allows for safe and convenient, contactless raising and lowering. Depending on the implemented solution, individual roller shutters, specific groups of roller shutters or all covers in the house can be managed from one place. In this article, we look at the available configurations (diagrams) of the central roller shutter control system and the most common errors made during installation.

Controllers – key elements of the central roller shutter control system
Driver connects roller shutter motors to the control panel, forcing the movement of electric window blinds – individual blinds, a specific group or all of them in the entire facility. It can be started manually using a button or remote control or remotely, e.g. from a mobile application on a smartphone. Modern controllers allow programming of various operating modes, so raising and lowering the blinds becomes fully automated. Depending on the type of controllers used and the needs of the building, there are three types of roller shutter control: local, group and central. All roller shutter controllers must be connected to the electrical network.
Local roller shutter control
The local controller provides control of a single roller shutter motor. The electronics used in advanced local controllers allow programming of both the length of each roller shutter, so that you do not have to hold the button until the cover is completely lowered/raised, as well as the favorite positions of individual roller shutters in order to only partially cover selected windows. The switch keys for electronic controllers are mounted on the wall next to each roller shutter in the building.
Group blinds control
The group controller allows you to control a specific group of local controllers. In practice, this means that you can raise and lower several blinds at the same time from one place. One group controller covers blinds located in the windows of one interior, one floor or several selected rooms, e.g. the sunniest ones. Group controllers and buttons for operating groups of blinds are mounted in the most convenient places for the user, e.g. by the bed in the bedroom or in the relaxation area in the living room, which allows you to lower/raise blinds in the entire room without disturbing your rest. To operate groups of blinds, we recommend innovative button controllers controlled by a smartphone from the Simon 54 GO line from the Kontakt-Simon brand:
- key for the roller shutter group for SIMON54 GO DKE13/41 electronic switches and controllers ,
- key for the roller shutter group for SIMON54 GO DKE13/48 electronic switches and controllers .
These controllers enable the creation of a complete, tailored roller shutter control system.
Central roller shutter control
The central roller shutter button, as the name suggests, is used for central control of roller shutters - i.e. for raising and lowering all the roller shutters in the building from one place. It is connected to group and local controllers. The central roller shutter button makes it easier and faster to operate the roller shutters when household members leave the building, go to bed, get up in the morning or return home. It should be installed in a convenient and easily accessible location for household members. For this reason, it is most often located at the entrance door. In principle, any number of roller shutters can be controlled centrally, although this depends on the functionality of the implemented system. Most roller shutter control systems support up to 10 roller shutters.

The most common mistakes when designing and installing central roller shutter control
It is worth entrusting the planning and implementation of a central roller shutter control system to an experienced company that specializes strictly in roller shutter automation installations. Otherwise, errors can easily occur, including incorrect operation of the roller shutter/shutters, lack of response to commands, stopping of the cover in a specific position, one-way operation of the motor or slow movement. The cause often turns out to be incorrect connection of cables or incorrectly installed motor in the winding shaft. Accurately diagnosing the source of the problem is usually difficult - especially for someone who does not have specialist knowledge. Therefore, it is recommended to use dedicated central roller shutter control diagrams provided by their manufacturers and to follow the recommendations regarding safety measures, and in the event of installation dilemmas and persistent problems, consult the service as soon as possible. It should be remembered that each controller model may have its own requirements in terms of installation and configuration.
