24V master controller and optional modules

Particularly noteworthy is the modular form of the system, which allows for expansion with new functionalities. The master regulator (control strip) offers advanced functions such as: automatic balancing, control of various heat emitters in one room, or extended installation test. Equipped with an optional Expansion Module with pre-defined applications, it supports inputs for cooling, away from home, dew point sensor, automatic cooling switchover and leaving water temperature control. The 24 V regulator can also be equipped with a radio module, thus creating a wireless system, and thanks to the App Module and the Danfoss Icon™ App, remote control from outside the home will be available. Thanks to the modular concept, wireless elements can be added to the existing wired system at a later time.

The Danfoss Icon™ system can also be integrated with the Danfoss Ally™ system, thus enabling control of both water underfloor heating and radiator heating.

Automatic balancing for energy savings and comfort

Why balance? Water flows where it encounters the least resistance, i.e. along the shortest path. In water underfloor heating systems, this means uneven heat distribution. The shortest loop will receive the most water, resulting in faster heating of smaller rooms at the expense of larger ones. In order to achieve a balanced room temperature, the underfloor heating system should be properly balanced, thereby achieving the highest comfort with the lowest possible energy consumption.

By reaching the set temperature in each room, the Danfoss Icon™ system recognizes the approximate length of the pipe. With automatic balancing, Icon™ will delay the "start-up" time of shorter loops (smaller rooms) and give priority to larger rooms. This means that each room will receive the appropriate flow level when heat demand increases.
