What is special about a riser pipe?
There are two main types of riser pipes:
- smooth shaft pipes ,
- corrugated shaft pipes - you can read more about them in the next paragraph.
The smooth riser pipe is part of the external sewage system. It is an element of a plastic sewage well. It is made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride). It is distinguished by its smooth surface and lack of a socket. It often has an intense color, e.g. bright orange, which facilitates identification. The external diameter of the pipe is standardly 400 mm.
The stem pipes allow them to be adapted to individual needs. They can be easily cut to the required length using a hand or mechanical saw. The cutting area requires deburring.
What are the characteristics of a corrugated shaft pipe?
A more popular solution is corrugated riser pipes. Polypropylene (PP) is used for their production - a modern, extremely durable, and at the same time flexible plastic. They have a characteristic, corrugated (corrugated) external surface. They are mainly available in black and orange. The corrugated riser pipe is used in drainage, through, collection and control wells.
Corrugated riser pipes demonstrate increased resistance to stress, impact, extreme temperatures and various chemical compounds. They are not even threatened by significant loads related to, among others, road traffic. They flexibly adapt to changing terrain conditions. They are also very easy to install. Between the riser pipe and the base, in a deep groove, there is a seal that guarantees the reliability of the connection. Thanks to this, sewage does not penetrate into the ground and groundwater does not enter the sewage system. The durability of the PP material is estimated at up to 100 years.
Selecting the appropriate diameter of the shaft pipe
The riser pipes are available in several nominal diameters: 315 mm, 425 mm, 600 mm and 1000 mm. The diameter should be adapted to the parameters of the manhole, which may consist of a cover, a riser pipe, a seal and a continuous or collection base. The internal diameter of the riser pipe must correspond to the internal diameter of the base, e.g. 315 mm / 315 mm.
