Low water pressure in the home installation or its fluctuations are a common problem that residents of single-family houses and apartment buildings struggle with. When looking for the best solution to solve this problem, it is worth considering not only the pump parameters. In an era of rising electricity prices, it is becoming increasingly important to choose devices that will fulfill their task without generating unnecessary costs. The comfort and safety of use provided by modern, compact and quiet hydrophores are also important. These features are particularly important in the present day, when newly built houses usually do not have basements, and pressure boosting devices are installed near living quarters.

An example of such an energy-efficient and comfortable-to-use pressure booster is the SCALA2 pump from Grundfos . Its new, improved version surpasses many pressure boosting pumps available on the market in terms of efficiency and energy savings.
The new SCALA2. Energy savings and comfort of use like never before

The improvements in the hydraulic system and precise changes in its design details introduced in the new generation of Grundfos SCALA2 pumps resulted in improved hydraulic parameters of the pump and an increase in its efficiency by 2% compared to the previous model. This translates into energy savings and reduced operating costs of the device. Thanks to the technologically advanced hydraulic system, the use of a motor with permanent magnets and intelligent control technology, the new SCALA2 pump allows you to save up to 40% of the energy used to increase water pressure compared to traditional hydrophores*.
The design changes inside the pump and the use of new material in its housing have also had a positive effect on the noise level generated by the device. Quiet operation has always been one of the advantages of the SCALA2 pump appreciated by users, and its new generation is even quieter than its predecessor. The sound pressure level has been reduced by 3 dB (A), to a level of just 44 dB (A). This is a sound comparable to that generated by a modern dishwasher or a quiet conversation. Although a reduction in sound pressure by 3 dB (A) may seem small at first glance, studies* show that the human ear perceives this change as a 50% reduction in noise compared to the previous model.

New SCALA2 – structure and applications
The operating principle and regulation of the new SCALA2 pump model remain the same as in the previously available version. SCALA2 is a fully integrated, self-priming, all-in-one hydrophore device. It contains all the elements necessary for effective water pressure increase in a durable housing, i.e. pump, tank, motor, check valves and pressure switch.

Integrated motor speed control enables the pump to maintain optimum tap pressure as needed, regardless of inlet pressure fluctuations and demand changes. The water-cooled permanent magnet motor ensures quiet and efficient operation, providing a lifting height of Hmax 45 m and a maximum consumption of 550 watts, which is about half the consumption of a traditional domestic constant speed pump*.
The pump provides constant pressure simultaneously in up to 8 collection points located on up to 3 floors. It allows to increase water pressure from the water supply network, from tanks placed on the ground or roof, and from underground tanks and shallow wells (< 8 m from the water surface).
Easy assembly, convenient operation
The advantages of the SCALA2 pump appreciated by installers include its ease of installation and start-up. It does not require complicated tools, and its convenience is additionally increased by adjustable inlet and outlet connections and a large filling plug. The pump is made in IP X4D protection class and can be installed both inside and outside the building.
SCALA2 is equipped with a clear and easy-to-use control panel, which allows you to conveniently make settings and monitor the pump's operation. SCALA2 also has a number of protections that allow for quick diagnosis of undesirable conditions in the installation, preventing damage to the pump and material losses. The most important include protection against dry running, a function for detecting leaks in the installation and water leaks (e.g. from loose taps) and anti-freeze protection, useful when we do not have time to dismantle the pump working outside before the first frost.
The new, improved generation of the popular Grundfos SCALA2 domestic water pressure boosting pump sets a new standard for integrated booster systems, delivering constant water pressure, low noise levels and energy efficiency – all in an innovative all-in-one pressure booster designed for reliable operation in homes and residential buildings.
