A key element for effective installation: the sleeve

Added: Thursday, 1/4/2024

Collets are a type of chuck with a through hole and a tapered exterior, commonly used to hold tools in the metalworking industry. The collet forms a collar around the part it holds, such as a tool or metal workpiece, exerting significant clamping force. There are many types of bushings available on the market. In this article, we analyzed their use in underfloor heating systems, PE water supply networks and electrical installations. Regardless of whether you need a sleeve for drinking water installations or a sleeve for a drill, you will find it on Onninen.pl!

The use of sleeves in underfloor heating systems

Compression sleeves are part of complete pipe and fitting systems, ensuring reliable operation of underfloor heating installations. The use of a sleeve allows you to connect the pipe to a valve or other hydraulic device. The resulting connection is safe and durable. It is worth choosing a system that offers connection via clamping sleeves because it allows you to avoid many assembly errors. A sleeve ring is placed on the flared end of the pipe. The resulting connection is immediately tight.

CONEX sleeve reinforcing STANDARD 10 Underfloor heating systems also feature supporting sleeves, mainly made of stainless steel. This type of sleeve is intended to stiffen the end of the pipe pressed into the fitting. Thanks to this, the end of the pipe has a circular cross-section.

The sleeve in the underfloor heating system also has a protective function. Under the influence of the heat of the heating pipes, the floor slab expands. To prevent damage to the slab, edge tape and expansion joints are used. When underfloor heating cables pass through expansion joints, it is important that they are properly secured. A special protective sleeve (conduit) is used for this purpose. It should be at least 20 cm long. The protective sleeve should be secured to prevent mortar from getting inside during pouring. Longer sleeves, measuring 40-50 cm, are used to protect water underfloor heating pipes, e.g. running in door sills.

Types of sleeves for PE water pipes

In water installations, compression sleeves and connectors are used to safely and tightly connect pipes. An important advantage of crimping is the ability to rotate the connector later - without affecting the safety of the installation. Neither additional gaskets nor sealing tapes are required to attach pipes using compression sleeves.

In plastic water and sewage installations, you can also find reinforcing sleeves that increase the strength of the pipes and prevent cracks and other mechanical damage. They are made of high-quality metals, such as stainless steel or aluminum. They protect the most critical places, e.g. those with increased water flow, where there are very high hydraulic forces that may threaten the structure. In addition, the sleeves enhance the stability of the system and protect it against weather conditions. They are suitable for both newly constructed water supply installations and older systems. They are very simple to use. There are many shapes and sizes of sleeves to choose from, which allows you to find the optimal solution for any type of pipe, both for home installations and for industrial use.

Georg Fischer flange sleeve dn110 PE100, SDR17, PN5 gas/PN10 water, chamfered Flange sleeves are also intended for PE pipes in water supply installations, connected by butt welding or electrofusion welding. Models with PZH certificate can be used in systems for transporting drinking water.

An innovative solution in the segment of connectors for PE plastic installations is the design of slip-on sleeves. The symmetrical slip- on sleeve is part of the KAN-therm ultraLINE system, which you can order in our wholesaler. Made of high-quality PVDF material, it is durable and at the same time extremely flexible. The unique design of the sleeve allows for mounting on both sides of the pipe. It ensures assembly accuracy without special positioning, which significantly increases the convenience of work - especially in difficult construction conditions. The resulting connection (without O-rings) is characterized by maximum tightness and long-term mechanical strength.

The use of sleeves in electrical installations

Baks brass expansion sleeve TRMM8 Bushings are irreplaceable in many electrical installation works. Anyone who likes DIY certainly has one in their garage. Ferrules are used to connect electrical cables when making, modifying and repairing electrical installations. Additionally, they have a protective function, reducing the risk of pulling out or damaging the cable.
