How LED lamps work and why they are great light sources

LED bulbs consist of diodes composed of two-layer semiconductors, without a filament, and they glow thanks to the electroluminescence effect. They do not produce heat and convert excess energy into light with almost 100% efficiency. Classic solutions that look like traditional light bulbs and surface-mounted LEDs are used - they are more durable and provide a wider lighting angle. The part allows you to adjust the light intensity - you decide how bright it should be. They can also change color. They are a very long-lasting light source, they can operate for up to 50,000 hours. hours (traditional light bulbs only about 1 thousand).

It is an eye-friendly light source because it emits light with a continuous spectrum (more or less like sunlight). Thanks to different color temperatures, you can adjust the lighting to your needs, depending on the time of day or mood. The latest solutions allow you to transmit data and control the lighting remotely using a remote control or application (even by voice). LEDs consume 90% less energy than traditional light bulbs. Unlike fluorescent lamps, they do not contain mercury. Thanks to their durability, they generate less waste, protecting the natural environment. They give full brightness immediately. The color of light in LED lighting resembles daylight. Warm colors are chosen for places of relaxation, cool ones for stimulation and concentration.

How to design living room lighting?

To choose lighting for the living room, you need to consider what types of light sources to use and what types of lamps to use. There are many possible interior arrangements, and for example, combining indirect light with general light will properly illuminate the living room. By using different types of lighting, you can achieve a pleasant interior atmosphere and comfort of staying there. Remember that with the right number of light sources you can create attractive effects. For example, lighting long walls visually expands it, and with high ceilings, a hanging lamp creates a lowering effect. Hanging lamps will highlight the selected area, and floor lamps will work well, for example, in the sleeping area.

When designing living room lighting, we can choose numerous products. These include, for example, chandeliers or ceiling lamps that evenly illuminate the entire interior and are placed in the central part of the ceiling. Small LED spotlights can also be installed in plasterboard ceilings. The lighting in the living room should be as close to natural as possible . Local lighting works very well, directing the light, e.g. onto a table or armchair, or illuminating selected elements of the living room. The lighting in the living room is diversified by point light sources to highlight details. LED lamps in sets, e.g. light balls, are a decorative element in themselves. It is best to carry out the project during construction or renovation works. It is then worth choosing places for furniture, a table, a coffee table, armchairs or a sofa. Thanks to this, you will plan where electrical sockets, switches and lighting points should be located on the ceiling and walls. Depending on the type of lighting, products may have cables of different lengths. Remember to turn off the power and connect the wires properly during installation (to avoid short circuits).

Lighting arrangement in the living room - ceiling lamps

To choose lighting, you need to consider which living room lamps will match the size of the room and interior design. In each zone of the room, you need to choose the appropriate lighting for the living room.

Ceiling lighting in large living rooms will be different than in smaller ones. General lighting is provided by, for example, flush-mounted lamps, usually square or rectangular, or surface-mounted ceiling lamps, often in the form of round panels, mounted on the ceiling. As additional lighting, you can use eyelets with LED bulbs or tubes with reflectors. This will give you even lighting.

You can use a chandelier as a ceiling lamp. the size of the lamp will depend on the illuminated surface, or track lighting with several light points. To illuminate the ceiling, you can install strips on its corners on the cornices. LED strips hidden in the edges provide diffused light, decorating the living room. In suspended plasterboard ceilings, you can create recesses for tapes that provide nice, blurred light directed upwards. When used sparingly, it will appeal to lovers of minimalist or Scandinavian-style interiors.

Hanging and floor lamps in the living room

Lamps for the living room and the choice of lighting depend on whether it is a living room, how large an open space it is, or whether it also serves as a bedroom. You can put a floor lamp in it. In large living rooms, it is best to place floor lamps with long cables. Hanging lamps are perfect above the table, illuminating its surface. This is a great solution if you have a round table. Wall lamps and floor lamps will complement the ceiling lighting, but will also illuminate tables and armchairs. Board games (if you like them) look better this way. It's also more comfortable to read. Strips illuminating shelves in showcases or cabinets can provide pleasant visual effects. Remember to mount lamps or LED strips behind the TV, it will cause less eye strain while watching TV.

Hanging lamp and LED strips in the kitchen

In the kitchen connected to the living room, it is worth installing lamps with LED spotlights or LED strips, evenly illuminating the countertop and sink. They should be covered, e.g. with lampshades, so that the light does not reflect from the surface. If there is a table in the room, it is worth using a hanging lamp. If necessary, you can install ceiling lamps or light points in the ceiling.

The selection of appropriate lighting largely depends on, among others: height of the room and its shape. The color of the light influences the cozy atmosphere. Living room lamps give you a lot of scope for interior design. Well-chosen light makes life more pleasant.
