Linear drainage for public utility facilities. What systems should you choose?

Added: Tuesday, 9/29/2020

When selecting linear drainage systems for public utility facilities and other high-traffic areas, it is crucial to ensure not only high retention capabilities and optimal hydraulic parameters, but also the appearance, design and high aesthetics of linear drainage systems. It is very important to maintain high resistance to compression and static stresses.

We invite you to read the article in which we indicate recommended linear drainage for public utility facilities and prestigious facilities with high traffic intensity.

From the article you will learn...

  • what are the uses and characteristics of drainage systems with a minimalist RECYFIX®HICAP®F inlet slot,
  • what are the characteristics of RECYFIX®HICAP®F inlet slots,
  • what an example calculation (selection) might look like for RECYFIX®HICAP®F, with a gap of 13/28 and 28 mm,
  • what drainage systems to use for facilities requiring extreme solutions.

RECYFIX HICAP – characteristics of systems used in prestigious locations

RECYFIX HICAP

Drainage systems used in prestigious facilities with high traffic intensity must simultaneously meet several key conditions. Of course , the most important thing is that linear drainage systems provide the largest possible retention capacity allowing for effective drainage of large areas.

When designing prestigious facilities and investments with increased aesthetic requirements, it is important to match the elements of small architecture to the overall design. Some facilities require a minimalist design of inlet slots, which guarantee a discreet form of linear drainage without limiting the functionality of the system.

RECYFIX HICAP (1)

A linear drainage system implemented in prestigious facilities with high traffic intensity is also expected to have increased resistance, strength and durability. The RECYFIX®HICAP® series drainage system is made of light and durable material resistant to atmospheric and chemical factors. The design of the linear drainage system ensures durability up to load class F 900, and the inlet slots are made of aesthetic and durable stainless steel or ductile cast iron.

The RECYFIX®HICAP® drainage series consists of two systems - RECYFIX®HICAP®F and RECYFIX®HICAP®G . The HICAP®F drainage system is a linear drainage equipped with covers made of plastic funnels and narrow grates made of stainless steel or cast iron. In turn, the structure of the HICAP®G system consists of a base in the form of a monolithic funnel made entirely of ductile cast iron.

Example calculation of RECYFIX®HICAP® linear drainage

RECYFIX®HICAP® drainage systems will be successfully used in public places, squares, communication routes, parking lots and in many other places of this type with a large area requiring effective water drainage. This can be confirmed by an example calculation of the RECYFIX®HICAP®F drainage system, with a 13/28 slot.

RECYFIX HICAP retention and drainage channels with an inlet slot of 28 mm guarantee an inlet slot efficiency of 6.8 l/sxm, which, when calculated for a rain intensity of 150 l/sx ha, corresponds to an area of 453.3 m2.

RECYFIX HICAP – water drainage and storage

In addition to effectively draining water from large surfaces, RECYFIX®HICAP® linear drainage is able to effectively store water. Significant hydraulic efficiency is guaranteed by additional retention capacity. Thanks to this, the drainage system is able to: drain water from extremely large flat surfaces to the drainage point, retain excessive amounts of it, and finally effectively discharge it to the sewage system

Thanks to this, RECYFIX®HICAP® drainage avoids the need to invest in additional retention tanks. Moreover, RECYFIX®HICAP® linear drainage systems allow you to create long sections of drainage lines, which reduces the need for excessive connections and the number of wells. This directly reduces installation costs and speeds up the implementation of earthworks.

For example, RECYFIX HICAP F 8000 linear drainage systems installed on an asphalt surface with dimensions of 50x200 m and a nominal rainfall amount in the range of 150 l/s*ha are able to effectively drain a given area using only one drainage well. For comparison, traditional linear drainage systems require at least 4 wells and 15 point outlets to effectively drain water from such an area.

The drainage system consists of troughs with a width of 100 to 680 mm, thanks to which the drainage well can be installed in almost any place. F 10000 linear drains with the highest height and capacity can store as much as 443 liters of water for each linear meter. In turn, the smallest RECYFIX®HICAP®F 1000 channels can store 18.4 liters of water.

Environmentally friendly - what are RECYFIX HICAP drainage systems made of?

The RECYFIX HICAP system is made of the highest quality recycled plastics. Thanks to the appropriate method of plastic recovery, it maintains excellent technical parameters while being an exceptionally ecological and pro-environmental solution.

The secondary raw material is processed into granules with an admixture of a small amount of new raw material, which is intended to increase the quality of the products to an appropriate level. Recyclates for RECYFIX plastic are created in modern plastic recycling plants, and the material obtained there:

  • is unbreakable,
  • remains highly resistant to mechanical damage,
  • does not corrode,
  • maintains an excellent ratio of mechanical strength to density.

Projects based on HAURATON products

Linear drainage for heavy traffic Due to the aesthetic and minimalist design combined with excellent hydraulic parameters, HAURATON brand drainage is used in the most prestigious locations. Examples of investments in which the RECYFIX®HICAP® drainage system was used include Warsaw Spire, the courtyard at the Złota 44 skyscraper in Warsaw, and the area around Bałtyk Tower in Poznań.

HAURATON brand products are also widely used in industrial areas - e.g. at airports, logistics center squares and in ports. RECYFIX®HICAP® solutions are also used to drain places with heavy wheeled, tracked and rail traffic that requires interrupting a series of wells without having to interrupt the drainage system below the surface.
