Reliability in installation protection - Valvex introduces the PIZA-M filter

Added: Thursday, 8/1/2024

PIZA-M with a neodymium magnet is a comprehensive solution for use in central heating installations – powered by heat pumps, gas boilers and solid fuel boilers – as well as in water supply and air-conditioning installations.

Only a quarter has passed since Valvex introduced magnetic dirt separators to the market, and another new product dedicated to the protection of installations has joined the portfolio of the domestic leader in the ball valve segment. Valvex PIZA-M filters were created as part of the development of the standard PIZA filter by equipping it with a magnetic core. Thanks to this, mechanical filtration - based on the use of a mesh filter - has been supplemented with additional magnetic filtration. While non-magnetic solid contamination will settle on the filter mesh - as in the case of a standard filter - magnetic contamination will adhere to the cover in which the neodymium magnet is placed. Thus, the PIZA filter has gained new functionality, becoming - in the version with a neodymium magnet - an effective tool for protecting installations against both of the above types of contamination.

Advantages and applications of the Valvex PIZA-M filter

The new product is available in four sizes – DN 15, DN 20, DN 25 and DN 32 – so it can be used in places with both smaller and larger installation space. The compact design and four size options are one of the undoubted advantages of the model. What's more, the DN 32 filter is ideal for use in heat pump installations, where it is sometimes necessary to use 5/4" fittings.

PIZA-M is, however, such a universal tool that it can also be used in other central heating installations – powered by gas boilers or solid fuel boilers. In addition, it can be used in water supply and air conditioning installations, e.g. chilled water.

Valvex PIZA-M filter construction

Referring to the advantages of the filter, its strong point is undoubtedly the construction and functions of the individual elements.

  • Neodymium magnet with a strength of 6400 - 7200 Gs (depending on diameter) is designed to remove magnetic particles from the installation. They are particularly dangerous for the operation of circulation pumps and cause a decrease in the efficiency of exchangers in heating devices.
  • The stainless steel mesh filter is responsible for the separation of non-magnetic solid contaminants.
  • The brass cover protects the magnet from contact with boiler water, and thus – despite its susceptibility to corrosion – reduces the risk of its occurrence. At the same time, it ensures easy removal of magnetic particles accumulated around it. After pulling the magnet out of the cover, the particles will fall off on their own.
  • The cap has a special O-ring seal that ensures it remains impermeable despite repeated unscrewing.

Why is it worth choosing the Valvex PIZA-M filter?

The PIZA-M filter is one of the three basic Valvex tools used to protect installations against magnetic contamination. It is an ideal choice if you want professional protection of the installation, but you cannot - or do not want - to use a magnetic separator or a ball valve with a filter and magnetic insert. Unlike the first of these, the PIZA-M is a solution that requires less installation space and is undoubtedly cheaper, while still very effective in operation.
