The Wavin Tigris heating system is a series of refined and tested products and solutions well known to every installer. It would seem that nothing can be added to the numerous valued functional features of the K1 and M1 fittings. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Wavin Tigris Connectors

Wavin 's domain is continuous work on improving products and searching for innovative solutions. And so, thanks to the efforts of many of our experts, Tigris K5 and M5 fittings were created with the world's first patented Acoustic Leak Alert, i.e. an integrated acoustic leak detection system, with a larger hydraulic cross-section, and also with the Multi Jaw function - i.e. the ability to clamp with up to 5 types of jaws

Acoustic Leak Alert - acoustic leak detection system

A function that will allow installers to quickly check the entire installation and detect unpressed fittings during pressure tests performed with compressed air. Thanks to ACOUSTIC LEAK ALERT, each unpressed fitting emits a loud whistle (80 dB), making it extremely easy to find. Using air for pressure testing allows you to avoid water stagnation in the installation, thus eliminating the risk of legionella and preventing damage to the installation during frost. However, if the pressure test of the installation is performed using water, unpressed connections will be revealed using the well-known DLF function. In such a case, a controlled leak will occur, thanks to which it will be easy to locate the omitted clamp and correct the error.

Opti flow – up to 50% larger hydraulic cross-section of the fitting

Designed specifically to provide optimum flow, Wavin Tigris K5 and M5 fittings with OPTI FLOW have up to 50% larger hydraulic cross-section. This will make your new installation even more efficient and reliable.

Multi Jaw - five types of jaws for clamping

Thanks to MULTI JAW, Wavin Tigris K5 and M5 fittings guarantee a secure connection regardless of the jaw profile. To press Wavin Tigris K5 and M5, the most popular jaws can be used, as they are compatible with U, Up, H, TH and B profiles. This eliminates the need to purchase new equipment and makes it easier to switch to the new Wavin Tigris K5/M5. Another great convenience for installers is the new possibility of faster installation. The calibration of the pipe after cutting, which is required for the installation of M1 and K1 fittings, is no longer necessary. However, due to the ease of installation and the convenience of connecting the elements, we still recommend calibrating the pipes before connecting.

One system for everything

Wavin Tigris water system pipe connector Wavin offers all the necessary fittings and pipes to complete any installation. The Wavin Tigris fittings program is based on reliable compression connection technology. The new Wavin Tigris K5 and M5 family includes almost 100 fitting variants in diameters 16-40 mm. In addition, the range of available solutions has been expanded to include new types of fittings previously unavailable in the M1 series. Wavin Tigris K5 and M5 is fully compatible with its predecessor Wavin Tigris K1 and M1. Both Tigris K5 and M5 and Tigris K1 and M1 fit the same Wavin Tigris multilayer pipe .

Pressure test performed with air

The Acoustic Leak Alert function makes Tigris K5 and M5 fittings ideal for pressure testing with compressed air. During compressed air testing at the filling stage of the installation, it is possible to inspect the correctness of the crimping – uncrimped fittings will emit a loud whistle. We recommend that this part of the test is performed at a pressure of 0.2-0.5 bar to prevent the uncrimped fittings from being pushed out of the pipe. If a leak is detected due to the fitting not being crimped (whistling), the connection should be crimped. After the installation inspection, proceed to the actual pressure test according to the following guidelines:

  1. The pressure value should not exceed 3 bar and a calibrated dial pressure gauge with a range 50% greater than the test pressure should be used during the test.
  2. The initial test consists of raising the pressure to the test pressure value three times at 10-minute intervals. The installation is then observed for 30 minutes – observation of any leaks in the installation. Leaks
can be located acoustically or using a foaming solution.
  3. The main test consists of maintaining the test pressure value for a period of 2 hours. The test is considered positive if there is no pressure drop on the manometer and there are no leaks in the installation.

Please remember this:

Changes in ambient temperature affect the pressure. When taking pressure readings on the manometer at the beginning and end of the test and for at least 0.5 hours before the reading, the ambient temperature should be the same within a tolerance range of ± 3°C. It should be remembered that the installation being tested should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
