The Wavin Tigris heating installation system is a number of refined and tested products and solutions well known to every installer. It would seem that nothing more can be added to the numerous valued functional features of the K1 and M1 fittings. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Wavin Tigris connectors

Wavin 's domain is continuous work on product improvement and searching for innovative solutions. And so, thanks to the efforts of many of our experts, Tigris K5 and M5 fittings were created with the world's first patented Acoustic Leak Alert, i.e. an integrated acoustic leak detection system, with a larger hydraulic cross-section, as well as with the Multi Jaw function - i.e. the ability to clamp with up to 5 types of jaws

Acoustic Leak Alert – acoustic leak detection system

A function that will easily enable installers to quickly check the entire installation and detect unpressed fittings during pressure tests performed with compressed air. Thanks to ACOUSTIC LEAK ALERT, each unpressed fitting emits a loud whistle sound (80 dB), which makes finding it extremely easy. Using air for pressure tests avoids water stagnation in the installation, thus eliminating the risk of Legionella and preventing damage to the installation during frosts. However, if the installation is pressure tested with water, loose connections will be revealed using the well-known DLF function. This will result in a controlled leak, making it easy to locate the missed terminal and correct the error.

Opti flow – up to 50% larger hydraulic cross-section of the fitting

Designed specifically to ensure optimal flow, Wavin Tigris K5 and M5 fittings with OPTI FLOW have up to 50% larger hydraulic cross-section. Thanks to this, the new installation will be even more efficient and reliable.

Multi Jaw - possibility of clamping with five types of jaws

Thanks to MULTI JAW, Wavin Tigris K5 and M5 fittings guarantee secure connection regardless of the jaw profile. To iron Wavin Tigris K5 and M5, you can use the most popular jaws because they are compatible with U, Up, H, TH and B profiles. This eliminates the need to purchase new equipment and facilitates the transition to the new Wavin Tigris K5/M5. Another great convenience for installers is the new possibility of faster installation. The calibration of the pipe after cutting, required when installing M1 and K1 fittings, is no longer necessary. However, due to the ease of installation and convenience of connecting elements, we still recommend calibrating the pipes before connecting.

One system for everything

Connector for Wavin Tigris water system pipes Wavin offers all the necessary fittings and pipes to complete any installation. The Wavin Tigris fitting program is based on reliable connection technology by pressing. The new Wavin Tigris K5 and M5 family includes nearly 100 variants of fittings with diameters of 16-40 mm. In addition, the offer of available solutions has been expanded to include new types of fittings previously unavailable in the M1 series. Wavin Tigris K5 and M5 is fully compatible with its predecessor Wavin Tigris K1 and M1. Both Tigris K5 and M5 and Tigris K1 and M1 fit the same Wavin Tigris multi-layer pipe .

Pressure test performed with air

Thanks to the Acoustic Leak Alert function, Tigris K5 and M5 fittings are ideal for performing pressure tests with compressed air. When carrying out tests using compressed air at the stage of filling the installation, you can inspect the correctness of pressing - unpressed fittings will emit a loud whistle. We recommend that this part of the test be performed using a pressure of 0.2-0.5 bar to prevent unpressed fittings from being pushed out of the pipe. If a leak is detected due to the fitting not being tightened (whistle), the connection should be tightened. After inspecting the installation, proceed to the proper pressure test according to the following guidelines:

  1. The pressure value should not exceed 3 bar, and a calibrated dial manometer with a range 50% greater than the test pressure should be used during the test.
  2. The preliminary test involves increasing the pressure to the test pressure three times at 10-minute intervals. The installation is observed within 30 minutes - observation of possible leaks in the installation. Leaks
can be located acoustically or using a foaming solution.
  3. The main test consists in maintaining the test pressure value for a period of 2 hours. The test is considered positive if there is no pressure drop on the pressure gauge and there are no installation leaks.

Here's what you need to remember:

Changes in ambient temperature affect pressure. When taking pressure readings on the manometer at the beginning and end of the tests and for a period of at least 0.5 hour. before reading, the ambient temperature should be the same with a tolerance range of ± 3°C. Please remember that the installation being tested should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
