How to properly light an office?
Good office lighting is the basis for both greater employee productivity and better well-being. For this reason, the space designated for work should meet the criteria specified in the regulations in force in the European Union.
Depending on the type of work, different levels of light intensity are required. The general division is as follows:
- 500 lx - the level applicable in most offices, i.e. wherever employees write by hand, operate computer stations, read or process data,
- 300 lx – lighting intensity required during physical work and e.g. at reception desks,
- 200 lx – archives, warehouses, etc.
Another important parameter of office or study lighting is the light colour . In practice, white visible light can be perceived in different ways. Therefore, depending on the room and the nature of the work performed, the time of day, the intensity of natural light, additional artificial lighting with an appropriate colour temperature is used. The general rule defining the effect of T c on the human body can be defined as follows: a warmer colour promotes relaxation, and a cold colour increases concentration. The accepted practice is to illuminate offices with artificial light with a temperature of 4000 Kelvin. PXF Lighting offers lighting solutions that support employee efficiency based on the circadian biological rhythm. PXF Lighting luminaires can be equipped with solutions enabling automatic (intelligent buildings) or manual (tunable white) change of colour temperature.
Decorative fixture for the office?
When choosing lamps and luminaires, it is also worth considering the aesthetics of the interior. The surroundings and their appearance affect the well-being and, consequently, the efficiency of employees. Representative rooms will be even more important - where guests are received, conferences are organized, important meetings are held. In such cases, decorative lighting is a good choice. The decorative luminaire should be selected so that it matches the decor and complements the color of the finish. Currently, offices are most often decorated in a modern style, usually in two or three colors and above all with the ergonomics of the interior in mind. Luminaires with a modern design, in universal (white, black, transparent or gray) colors, are best suited to such spaces.
It is worth emphasizing that a decorative fixture does not have to be very elegant or decorative. Geometric Arc LED and Geometric Line LED, despite their relatively simple aesthetics, can be considered modern lighting fixtures that will work perfectly in an office space.
