The ALANTEC NI056 is an advanced diagnostic tool suitable for both professional installers and end-users. The NI056 tester offers a number of functions that facilitate diagnostics and network optimization:

• Cable length measurement and fault location (TDR): TDR technology allows for precise determination of cable length in the range of 1 to 500 meters and location of the damage. This saves time and eliminates the need to check each section manually.
• Connection map testing (Wire Map): The function detects breaks, short circuits, reversed connections and other errors in the cabling, ensuring proper network operation.
• PoE testing: The tester analyzes the presence of PoE voltage, its value and compliance with IEEE 802.3af/at standards. This allows you to check compatibility with devices powered by Ethernet.
• PING function: Allows you to test network performance by measuring delays and lost packets - crucial for diagnosing connectivity issues.
• Port location (Port Flashing): Facilitates identification of a specific port on a switch or router by flashing the LED, which streamlines cabling management in rack cabinets.
• Cable locator (Toner): Allows you to trace the path of cables in walls or bundles, which is particularly useful during installation and maintenance of networks.
• NCV voltage detection: Increases work safety during connection and testing of cables thanks to a non-contact voltage detector.
• Saving results to microSD card: Allows exporting measurement data for later analysis and documentation.

Construction and operation

The device is equipped with a 2.8-inch color LCD screen with a resolution of 320x240 pixels, which ensures readability of results in various lighting conditions. Power is supplied by a built-in rechargeable battery via a micro USB port. The kit includes all the necessary accessories for a comprehensive diagnosis: pair tracer (location probe), terminator, crocodile clips, RJ-45 and RJ-11 connections, case and charger.
