The EKI-2741FI-BE converter is a robust device designed for building reliable networks in industrial environments. It allows for the conversion of Gigabit Ethernet signal to fiber optic, enabling data transmission over long distances, up to 110 km, while maintaining high bandwidth. This is an ideal solution where strong electromagnetic interference occurs or where it is necessary to connect devices located far apart.
Functionality and Application
The device finds application in monitoring systems, industrial automation, public transport networks, and anywhere requiring stable and fast communication. The converter supports both single-mode and multi-mode fiber (via SFP modules), providing flexibility in choosing the transmission medium. The Link Fault Passthrough (LFP) function significantly simplifies network diagnostics – in the event of a link failure, the converter informs the other side, enabling a quick response and minimizing downtime. This mechanism prevents the network from being clogged with erroneous data and speeds up the return to normal operation after the problem is resolved.
Construction and Resistance to External Conditions
The EKI-2741FI-BE is distinguished by its solid construction and resistance to harsh working conditions. The metal housing (IP30) provides protection against mechanical interference and allows for mounting on a DIN rail or wall. A wide operating temperature range (-10°C to 65°C) and high humidity resistance (5-95%) allow the converter to be used in demanding industrial environments. Additionally, ESD protection protects against overvoltage up to 4000VDC on the Ethernet line and 3000VDC on the power line. The device has redundant power supply (12-48VDC) with automatic switching to a backup source in the event of a main power failure. The built-in auto-detection MDI/MDIX function eliminates the need for crossover cables, simplifying installation.
