Exhaust fan A-MATIC WM100R - motion sensor

Ventilation Automation with Timer Function and Backdraft Damper

This device solves the problem of manually switching on ventilation in bathrooms, toilets, or utility rooms, where users often forget to turn off the unit after leaving. Thanks to the built-in motion sensor, the fan starts automatically upon detecting activity in the room. Importantly, for comfort and energy savings, it does not switch off immediately when motion ceases – a timer (delay) function is activated, allowing the device to continue operating for a set period ranging from 3 to 30 minutes. This ensures effective air exchange even after the last person has left the room.

The device construction is designed for wall or duct mounting with a duct diameter of 100 mm. The fan achieves an airflow rate of 95 m³/h, which, for standard bathroom volumes, enables rapid air exchange and removal of excess moisture. A key structural element is the automatic damper, which opens only when the fan is operating. After the operating cycle ends (either due to lack of motion detection or expiration of the timer), the damper closes tightly. This simple solution physically blocks the return path for cold air from the ventilation duct or unpleasant odors from adjacent rooms when the device is switched off.

Durability and Safe Operation in Humid Conditions

The housing is made of ABS plastic, which is resistant to corrosion and water vapor, making it ideal for bathrooms. Inside, ball bearings are used, which are more durable than standard sleeve bearings and ensure quieter operation and a longer service life for the rotor mechanism. The noise level generated by the device is approximately 37 dB(A), allowing installation even in smaller rooms without excessive acoustic discomfort.

The device has an IP protection rating of IPX2, meaning it is protected against water droplets falling at an angle of up to 15 degrees from the vertical. This provides sufficient protection for installation above a sink or in the wet zone of a bathroom (excluding the area directly above the shower/bath). However, note the limitations: the maximum operating temperature is 40°C, and installation is prohibited in rooms with open combustion sources (e.g., gas boilers without a sealed combustion chamber) due to the risk of flue gas backflow. The manufacturer provides a 5-year warranty for this model, confirming confidence in the quality of workmanship and the durability of both electrical and mechanical components.

Key Parameters and Applications

This fan is ideal for situations where using a traditional wall switch to control ventilation is not possible or desired. Automation eliminates the risk of leaving the device running "dry," which could lead to motor overheating or wasted electrical energy. Thanks to adjustable motion sensor sensitivity and switch-off delay time (accessible via a potentiometer hidden under the housing), the installer can adapt the device operation to the specific characteristics of the room – for example, increasing the operating time for large bathrooms or reducing detector sensitivity in areas with high levels of incidental movement (e.g., hallways).

In practice, the installation and operation of the device are based on several key features:

  • The connection diameter is 100 mm, facilitating installation in existing ventilation ducts without the need for modifications.
  • An airflow rate of 95 m³/h ensures efficient air exchange in typical bathrooms and toilets, quickly removing water vapor.
  • The device operates at a voltage of 230 V and consumes approximately 16 W of power, making it an energy-efficient solution suitable for continuous daily operation.
  • The noise level is limited to 37 dB(A), and the housing material is moisture-resistant white ABS plastic, matching most sanitary interiors.
  • The ability to smoothly adjust the switch-off delay time from 3 to 30 minutes allows precise customization of the timer function to user needs and room size.
