Fire Resistance and Fire Protection

The BiT 500 BLACK FR cable is designed for installations where limited flammability and the ability to prevent flame spread are required. It meets the IEC 60332-1-2 standard for a single cable and IEC 60332-3-24 category C for cable bundles - the latter means that in the event of a fire, the flame will not spread far along the cable route. The outer sheath has self-extinguishing properties.

The assigned fire reaction class according to EN 13501-6 is Eca, which confirms compliance with the requirements of the CPR directive for construction products (PN-EN 50575). The product has a CE marking.

However, it should be clearly stated that this cable is not halogen-free (does not comply with IEC 60754), so it will release typical PVC gases in the event of combustion. It is also not low smoke (no IEC 61034). If the project requires LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen), you need to look elsewhere.

Construction and Materials

Copper conductors, class 5 (multi-strand flexible cable), with a cross-section of 1.5 mm², provide flexibility while maintaining mechanical strength. The four conductors are numbered digitally, which significantly facilitates installation and diagnostics in complex installations. The cable includes a protective conductor (marked G), allowing for direct grounding without additional wiring.

The conductor insulation and outer sheath are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in black. The black sheath is not accidental - UV-stabilized PVC allows the cable to be exposed to sunlight without degradation. Hence, it can be laid outdoors.

Oil resistance confirmed by IEC 60811-404 test - the cable tolerates contact with oils used in industrial environments.

Temperature Range and Operating Conditions

The cable operates in a wide temperature range:

• fixed installations: from -40°C to +80°C
• flexible/moving connections: from -5°C to +80°C
• occasional movement: from -15°C to +80°C

The rated voltage is 300/500 V (U0/U), and the voltage test at 50 Hz is 3000 V. The insulation resistance at 20°C is at least 20 MΩ×km.

These parameters allow it to be used both indoors in dry and humid industrial environments and outdoors, including direct burial in the ground.

• underground cable - for direct laying in the ground without additional protection,
