Power Cable YKY 5x10 – Reliable Cable for Electrical Installations

The YKY cable with a cross-section of 5x10 mm² is a robust and versatile cable designed for fixed electrical installations to transmit electrical energy. Manufactured with copper cores insulated with PVC, it ensures safe and efficient operation across a wide range of applications. Although this cable has been replaced by the YnKY type, it retains all key properties and technical parameters.

Construction and Characteristics

The YKY cable features a design that guarantees durability and resistance to mechanical damage. Five copper cores, each with a 10 mm² cross-section, provide adequate current capacity, while PVC insulation effectively prevents short circuits and electric shocks. Cores are color-coded for easy identification during installation. The cable lacks armor or screening, making it an ideal choice for installations where these additional layers are unnecessary. The outer diameter is approximately 18.1 mm, with a weight of about 736 kg/km.

Application and Safety

The YKY cable is suitable for electrical installations in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. It performs excellently in power circuits supplying equipment with medium power consumption. Designed for operation in temperatures ranging from -30°C to +70°C (fixed installation temperature). It complies with EN 60332-1-2 standards for flame propagation resistance, enhancing operational safety. It includes a protective earth core for additional protection against electric shock. Note: This cable does not possess low smoke emission properties (per EN 61034-2) nor is it halogen-free (per EN 50267-2-2).
