Polycarbonate cable pit – a reliable and lightweight solution
The EK 437 (SK-1 Mikro) cable pit is a pass-through branching pit made of durable, foamed polycarbonate. It is a practical alternative to traditional concrete pits, especially where low weight and ease of installation are important. Designed for installers and end-users, it provides safe and efficient cable and pipe routing.
Construction and application
The SK-1 Mikro pit is characterized by compact external dimensions – 410 x 220 mm with a height of 400 mm. Internal dimensions are 140 x 330 mm. Thanks to numerous knockouts (diameters Ø10, Ø15, Ø50, Ø110 mm), introducing pipes and cables is extremely simple – it does not require drilling or masonry work. The polypropylene cover meets the EN 124 standard and has a load class of B125, guaranteeing safety in various conditions. It is secured with a latch operated with an Allen key. The pit has a solid bottom and no edge protection frame.
Advantages for professionals and users
This cable pit stands out with a number of advantages that will be appreciated by both installers and those using the finished installation:
- Low weight: The weight of the pit is only about 7.2 kg (including the cover), which facilitates transport, unloading and installation without the need for heavy equipment. This minimizes the risk of damage during transport and the load on the installation team.
- Fast installation: The modular design and numerous knockouts significantly speed up the installation process – by over 50% compared to traditional concrete solutions.
- Durability and resistance: Polycarbonate is characterized by high mechanical, thermal and chemical resistance (to gasoline, lubricants and hydrocarbons). The material is also self-extinguishing.
- Ecology: The pits are made of recycled material, which translates to a low carbon footprint and a neutral impact on the environment. The possibility of reprocessing the material further emphasizes the ecological character of the product.
- Versatility: A wide range of knockout diameters allows the pit to be adapted to different types of cables and pipes.
- Safety: Certified non-slip bottom ensures work safety during inspection or maintenance of the installation.
- Long-term operation: Resistance to weather conditions and UV radiation allows the pit to be stored outdoors without fear of losing its properties. It has a European Declaration of Conformity (ETA), confirming the declared parameters by an independent certification body.
