VA 10 mm ampul anchor – non‑expanding solution for concrete
The VA 10 mm ampul anchor is a chemical, in‑situ anchor designed for securing large loads in concrete, even at very short distances from the edge. It generates no expanding forces – meaning it does not risk cracking or damaging the concrete near the installed element. Its action is based on a complete bond between the steel rod, the adhesive mortar, and the concrete substrate.
During installation the glass ampoule is broken, mixing its contents – a styrene‑free vinylester resin, hardener, and aggregate – into a homogeneous mass that cures and creates a durable joint. The resin contains no styrene, improving safety during work and meeting environmental requirements.
Installation is possible only with VA AST anchoring rods, which must be sharpened. The process requires simultaneous rotation and a light hammer blow – an insertion tool is supplied in every package. The anchor can be installed in both dry and wet concrete. For holes filled with water (no seawater) the curing time must be doubled.
Advantages and applications
Zero‑force construction – ideal for mounting close to edges or in thin concrete elements where traditional expanding anchors are hazardous.
Long‑term stability – the resin has a minimum service life of 2.5 years when stored under proper conditions.
Compliance with European Technical Assessment (ETA) – approved for uncracked concrete C20/25 up to C50/60 (load capacity increases up to 19 % with higher concrete strength).
Installation versatility – works in both dry and wet concrete; can be used even when water is present in the hole.
Overload protection – thanks to the precise mixing and curing process, the joint does not degrade under thermal cycles up to 50 °C (80 °C for short periods).
Design and installation
The VA AST anchoring rod must have a sharpened tip – without this condition the installation will not be effective. All kits include the ampoule insertion tool. No special equipment is required – a standard drill with a rotary‑hammer function is sufficient.
It is important to note: load capacity depends on the quality of hole cleaning before installation. For maximum load values, “premium cleaning” is recommended – detailed procedures are described in the ETA documentation.
Not suitable for solid brick, sandstone or silicate blocks – only for concrete.
