Ampoule anchor 12 mm VA – solution without expansive forces for concrete

Ampoule anchor VA 12 mm is designed for fastening heavy loads in concrete, even at very small distances from the edge – because it does not generate expansive forces. Instead of relying on mechanical anchorage, it works through a chemical bond between the anchoring rod, the grout, and the concrete substrate. This provides stability and predictable loading, without risk of cracking near the edge.

During installation the glass ampoule is broken, which mixes the vinyl‑ester resin (styrene‑free), hardener and aggregates. The chemical reaction creates a durable bond that cures within a few hours and ensures long‑term strength – the resin has a guaranteed shelf life of at least 2.5 years.

Installation is possible only with VA AST anchoring rods with a sharpened tip. The process requires simultaneous rotation and a light hammer blow – the insertion tool is included in the rod package. It cannot be installed with other rods or methods.

Approved by the European Technical Assessment ETA (Option 7 for uncracked concrete), the anchor meets requirements for critical structural applications. The manufacturer’s technical support confirms that maximum loads depend on the initial cleanliness of the hole – the hole must be thoroughly cleaned before installation.

Not suitable for solid brick or other porous materials – only for concrete. With proper hole preparation and use of a compatible VA AST rod it provides a reliable connection for years.
