16 mm VA Ampoule Anchor – a non‑expansive solution for heavy loads in concrete

The 16 mm VA ampoule anchor is designed for fastening large loads in concrete, even at very short distances from the edge – because it does not generate expanding forces. Instead of relying on mechanical anchorage, it works through a three‑component bond: steel – mortar – concrete. This provides stability and predictable loading without the risk of cracking the substrate material.

During installation, the glass ampoule is broken, and its contents – a styrene‑free vinyl‑ester resin, hardener, and aggregate – mix inside the hole, forming a homogeneous, durable adhesive mass. The resin contains no styrene, reducing volatile organic compound emissions during use.

Installation is possible only with VA AST anchoring rods that have a sharpened tip. The process requires simultaneous rotation and a light hammer blow – the insertion tool is included in the rod package. This anchor cannot be installed by any other method.

Approvals and durability

The anchor has a European Technical Assessment (ETA) – confirming its compliance with standards for uncracked concrete (Option 7). For the installer this means documented load‑capacity parameters that can be used in projects requiring certification. For the end‑user – a guarantee of long‑term safety.

The adhesive’s service life is at least 2.5 years when stored in its original packaging. This does not mean the anchor works only for that period, but that its bonding properties do not degrade before installation.

What you need to know before purchase

• Not suitable for brick, blocks or other materials – only for concrete.

• Only VA AST rods with a sharpened tip may be used.

• Do not install without cleaning the hole – dirt or moisture reduce load capacity.

• Do not attempt manual installation – it requires a special tool and the rotate‑and‑strike technique.

• Do not use in cracked or insufficiently hard concrete – approvals apply only to uncracked concrete.

This is not a “one‑size‑fits‑all” anchor. It is a precise solution for specific conditions: heavy loads, limited space, concrete as the substrate. And it works only as designed.
