Multi-detector 12VDC sensor for alarms. Fire protection system element (F.P.). FIRECAT 400001FULL-0001

Flexible fire detection in 12V DC systems

The FIRECAT detector is a multi-detector device for detecting fire threats in intrusion alarm systems and other installations powered by 10-16 V DC. Thanks to its modular configuration, a single device replaces four separate sensors - the installer selects the operating mode according to the conditions in the protected room.

Configuration is performed using switches located at the back of the housing. There are four detection modes to choose from: optical (smoke detection), optical-thermal (combined detection with a temperature threshold of 60°C), thermal rate-of-rise (reaction to a rapid increase in temperature), and fixed temperature with a threshold of 77°C. The combined mode is effective where water vapor or dust could generate false alarms - the optical detector then reduces its sensitivity, but still reacts to extreme smoke concentrations or a sudden temperature spike.

Signaling and automatic monitoring

The detector is equipped with a dry contact relay with a capacity of up to 30 V DC / 1 A. The contacts can be configured as latching (remain in alarm state until manual reset) or auto-resetting (return to normal state after the alarm clears). The NC input supports pulse or latching mode - depending on the requirements of the alarm panel.

The self-monitoring function constantly checks the state of the detection chamber. When the sensor signal falls below the normal level (chamber failure or exceeding the contamination limit), a multi-function LED indicator signals the need for inspection - first, it is sufficient to remove the cover and clean the internal mesh; if the problem persists, the detector must be replaced.

In optical and optical-thermal modes, contamination compensation is active - the device automatically corrects sensitivity as dust settles on the chamber, delaying the occurrence of a contamination warning.

Mounting and construction

The device is surface-mounted on the ceiling using the included mounting base. The housing dimensions are approximately Ø107 × 57 mm, and the ABS/PC construction ensures resistance to typical indoor conditions. The white color (RAL 9003) allows for discreet integration into door frames and ceilings. The detector weighs only 80 g.

The base is equipped with optional locking clips - preventing the removal of the detector without using a tool (a thin flat-head screwdriver). This solution is useful where there is a risk of sabotage or accidental disassembly by unauthorized persons.

Installation proceeds in three steps: matching the detector with the base → rotating clockwise until it clicks into place → optional installation of the anti-tamper lock. Before startup, the factory-applied protective film must be removed - the detector must not be installed before the completion of construction work that generates dust.

Applications and compatibility

FIRECAT works with most alarm panels and any systems powered by 12 V DC. Current consumption ranges from 0.5 mA in standby to 14 mA during active detection - the minimal circuit load allows for connecting multiple devices to a single power supply.

The optical mode is recommended for offices, corridors, and living rooms - providing the fastest reaction to small smoldering fires generating visible smoke. The thermal mode is suitable for boiler rooms, garages, and spaces that are dusty or exposed to water vapor. The combined mode serves as a compromise for kitchens, bathrooms, and halls - where smoke detection alone might give false signals.

After installation, all detectors must undergo functional tests - before proceeding, the persons responsible for the facility must be notified about the temporary shutdown of the fire alarm system.
