Sounder for fire alarm systems and general signaling

The ROLP sounder in a red housing with a base plate belongs to the Eaton Roshni Low Profile line - one of the most frequently used conventional sounders in fire protection installations.

The device is primarily effective in fire alarm systems, but its versatility also allows for application in anti-burglary systems, industrial signaling, and general signaling - in corridors, halls, production areas, and warehouses. The two-stage alarm enables the distinction of threat levels.

Selectable tones and operating mode

The sounder offers 32 selectable tones, set via a code switch at the back of the housing - both fire-approved tones and general-purpose tones are available. Additionally, a second tone can be activated remotely by connecting the third terminal to ground.

The nominal sound pressure level is 102 dB(A) - effectively alerting people even in noisy environments. Volume adjustment allows for a reduction of 10 dB.

Automatic synchronization and system compatibility

The device supports automatic synchronization - a key function for installations requiring the simultaneous activation of multiple sounders without an acoustic "echo" effect. Monitoring is performed via reverse polarity.

The operating voltage range of 9-28 V DC provides flexibility when designing circuits - the sounder is compatible with most available control panels.

Construction and operating conditions

The housing is made of ABS plastic - an impact-resistant and dimensionally stable material. The dome diameter is 93 mm, the depth including the base plate is 63 mm, and the total weight of the device is 0.25 kg.

The IP54 protection rating means dust tightness and protection against splashing water - the sounder is suitable for installation both indoors and in sheltered outdoor locations.

The operating temperature range from −25°C to +70°C allows for installation in rooms exposed to significant temperature fluctuations.

Connection and mounting

The sounder is surface-mounted on a dedicated shallow base type plate. Wire connection is made via a screw terminal strip, allowing for easy loop-in/loop-out connection without the need for additional connectors.

Wires are connected to three terminals: ground (−), power positive (+) and an optional third pin for activating the second tone. The device is equipped with a diode to protect against reverse polarity.
