Stationary power supply for construction sites - distribution board with foundation

The design, intended to be buried at a depth of 600 mm, is ideal wherever constant, secure electrical power is needed in outdoor conditions. The BV series foundation construction distribution board is made of SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) thermosetting polyester reinforced with fiberglass - this material does not corrode, does not deform under the influence of moisture, and maintains its mechanical parameters through many years of exposure to atmospheric conditions. UV radiation resistance further protects the enclosure from degradation caused by sunlight.

The total height of the enclosure is 1320 mm, of which 600 mm goes underground. The dimensions of the above-ground part are 265 × 250 mm, allowing for a compact installation near a fence or in a corner of a plot without occupying excessive working space. The gray color of the enclosure is neutral and does not stand out against standard construction fencing.

Socket set and electrical configuration

The distribution board offers four sockets ready to connect typical construction devices and tools:

• 2 × single-phase socket 230 V / 16 A with a protective pin (type E) - for power tools, lighting, and small equipment;
• 1 × three-phase CEE 400 V / 16 A socket (3P + N + PE) - e.g., for concrete mixers, welding generators;
• 1 × three-phase CEE 400 V / 32 A socket (3P + N + PE) - for heavier machinery requiring higher rated current.

Inside the enclosure, there is a mounting plate with factory-installed protection devices from the Doktorvolt brand: a C16 1P (6 kA) miniature circuit breaker protecting single-phase circuits, a C16 3P (6 kA) miniature circuit breaker for three-phase sockets, and a 40 A / 30 mA type A residual current device (RCD), which provides protection against electric shock during faults to protective conductors. The wires are H07V-K control cables with cross-sections of 2,5/4 mm² in colors compliant with the standard: yellow-green (protective), blue (neutral), and black (supply).

Protection, safety, and certificates

The protection rating of the closed enclosure is IP44 - protecting against solid objects with a diameter greater than 1 mm and against water splashes from any direction. Upon opening the door, the class drops to IP20, so the manufacturer recommends closing the distribution board after each use.

An HS (HSS) type lock made of hardened steel secures access against unauthorized persons - an important feature on open construction sites. The device operates in temperatures from -25 °C to +50 °C, so it will handle both autumn frosts and summer heat.

Production takes place under a quality management system certified by TÜV SÜD ISO 9001:2015. The distribution board complies with the IEC 61439 standard, confirming the design's compliance with electrical safety requirements, and carries the CE marking. Each unit undergoes individual testing and receives a certificate of compliance with IEC standards.

Installation and use

The foundation design eliminates the need for additional poles or supporting frames - the distribution board is simply placed into a previously prepared excavation and backfilled with soil. A mounting plate is included to facilitate the arrangement of devices inside the enclosure.

The contractual short-circuit current is ≤ 6 kA, and the diversity factor is 0.8 - these data allow the installer to correctly dimension the supply line from the energy provider side. The rated frequency is the standard 50 Hz, and the operating voltage is 230 V / 400 V.

The distribution board is a stationary solution - once buried, it is not intended to be moved. Once installed, it provides a constant power consumption point throughout the duration of the investment.
