Portable power on the construction site and in the field
The WDD construction distribution board is a compact electrical installation device designed for the temporary power supply of power tools, machinery, and lighting in locations without permanent electrical infrastructure. Thanks to its built-in power and single-phase sockets, it allows for the simultaneous connection of devices with different requirements - from drills and grinders (230 V) to welders and concrete mixers (400 V). The compact housing with dimensions 190×140×75 mm fits easily into a toolbox or a workshop shelf, and its weight of 0,37 kg makes carrying it between workstations effortless.
Socket equipment and connection configuration
The device is equipped with two independently operating sockets:
- Three-phase power socket - red, 400 V / 32 A, five-pole (5P), type 3451. Designed to power industrial devices with high power consumption - transformer welders, piston compressors, three-phase concrete mixers, or power generators.
- Single-phase socket - blue, 230 V / 16 A, two-pole with grounding pin (2P+PE), type 11111, French-Belgian Type E system. Used for connecting standard power tools, work lamps, or chargers.
Both sockets have an IP44 ingress protection rating, which means protection against solid foreign objects ≥1 mm and splashing water from any direction.
The distribution board operates at a voltage of 230/400 V AC and a frequency of 50 Hz. An RDF (short-term load factor) of 0.9 indicates that the device can be loaded with up to 90% of its rated power for a duration proportionally longer than during continuous operation - typical for construction applications with cyclic tool startup.
Hermetic housing and operating conditions
The housing is made of a 009.A.PL hermetic enclosure. The design ensures IP44 protection for the entire distribution board - both the socket and the box are sealed at the fourth resistance class level. For full sealing of the cable route, a PG-21 ⌀13-18 mm IP68 cable gland has been installed.
On the construction site, the distribution board performs well due to its resistance to dust and moisture typical of outdoor conditions. However, it is not intended to be submerged in water or used in corrosive atmospheres - for such requirements, enclosures with a higher IP class must be sought.
Standard and production certification
The distribution board is manufactured in accordance with the DIN 61439-3 standard, which specifies requirements for distribution boards used on construction sites and in areas accessible to unskilled persons. This means, among other things, appropriate mechanical strength of the housing and protection against accidental contact with live parts.
A management system certified by TÜV SÜD has been implemented in the distribution board production process. The certification covers the repeatability of the assembly process and the consistency of the technical documentation provided with each unit. Internal wiring comes from proven electrical equipment suppliers.
The device is ready for connection - simply run a power cable from the grid or a generator through the PG-21 gland and connect it to the terminal block inside the housing.
