The portable construction distribution board with a rotary switch is a ready-to-use distribution device designed for the temporary power supply of construction sites, workshops, and outdoor areas. A full set of sockets—ranging from standard single-phase to multi-pin power sockets—and complete protective equipment, led by a residual current device, is housed in a single surface-mounted enclosure. The manufacturer has equipped the device with an H07RN-F connection cable with a cross-section of 5×10 mm² and a Mennekes 63A/400V/5P plug, making the distribution board ready for immediate connection to a three-phase network—without additional purchases or on-site cabling.
Enclosure and construction
The 19-module enclosure in a single row has dimensions of 400 × 515 × 135 mm and is designed for surface mounting—it can be hung on the wall of a construction hut, placed on a workbench, or mounted on a temporary structure. It is made of technopolymer—a material resistant to impact and weather conditions—with polycarbonate doors (front plate in grey, rear in black). The mounting screws are made of stainless steel, preventing corrosion in humid environments. The EPDM rubber door seal maintains flexibility both at low temperatures in winter and during heatwaves—it does not harden or crack over time. The enclosure protection rating is IP44, providing an effective barrier against dust and water splashes—sufficient for outdoor work under cover or in damp rooms.
The set includes a PG-29 cable gland, which allows the power cable to be introduced without additional sealing.
Socket set and protective equipment
The distribution board offers a diverse set of sockets tailored to typical construction needs. It includes five single-phase 230 V / 16 A sockets (French system) by Mennekes—each protected by a separate C16A/1P/10kA miniature circuit breaker. Additionally, one 400 V / 32 A power socket (type 3451) and three 400 V / 16 A power sockets (type 1385) are installed—also manufactured by Mennekes. The 32 A socket is protected by a C32A/3P/10kA miniature circuit breaker, and each 16 A socket has its own dedicated C16A/3P/10kA miniature circuit breaker. The switchgear components are sourced from a European manufacturer of modular equipment.
Protection against indirect contact is provided by a 63A/30mA/4P residual current device, which disconnects the circuit in the event of a fault to conductive parts—this requirement stems directly from regulations regarding temporary electrical installations on construction sites (standard IEC 61439).
Electrical parameters and wiring
The device operates on a three-phase network 230/400 V / 50 Hz AC with a rated current of 63 A. The short-circuit strength is ≤10 kA, ensuring safe operation even during a distribution network fault. An RDF coefficient of 0.6 indicates the long-term current-carrying capacity under mixed socket loading—an important parameter when planning the simultaneous power supply of multiple devices.
The main rotary switch (0-1) with parameters 500 V / 63 A / 3-F functions as the main switch—allowing for rapid disconnection of the entire distribution board from the network via a lever on the front plate of the enclosure (equipped with an S63 JD nameplate).
Internal wiring consists of H07V-K control wires with cross-sections ranging from 2.5 mm² to 10 mm², color-coded according to installation conventions: yellow-green for the PE protective conductor and blue for the N neutral conductor. The three-phase busbar (18-module, busbar cross-section 12 mm²) efficiently distributes power between individual circuits without looseness.
