Two-string photovoltaic distribution box for DC installations

The DV-4463-FOT photovoltaic distribution box is a complete solution for combining two strings in solar installations operating at voltages up to 1000V DC. The device integrates modular T1+T2 class surge protection and necessary wiring within a single enclosure, providing the installer with a ready-to-connect central point on the DC side - eliminating the need to select and install components separately.

Surge protection and operating parameters

The functional core consists of two DC T1 T2 3P 1000V surge protective devices (SPD), which provide two-stage protection against lightning strikes and operational surges. The T1 class is responsible for absorbing direct current surges with a peak value of limp = 12.5 kA, while T2 reduces voltage peaks to a safe level of Up < 2.0 kV. The maximum operating voltage is 1060V DC (Uc), providing a margin against the nominal 1000V DC - which is important both in cold weather and in configurations with modules having increased open-circuit voltage.

The test current In = 20 kA and the maximum current Imax = 40 kA demonstrate the robust load capacity of the surge protective devices (SPD). The manufacturer declares compliance with the IEC61643-11 standard, confirming the device's classification in accordance with European requirements for surge protective devices in photovoltaic installations.

Enclosure and construction

The enclosure, made of technopolymer in gray RAL 7035, offers high mechanical resistance with relatively low weight. The IP65 protection rating means full dust tightness and protection against water jets - making the distribution box suitable for outdoor use on building facades or solar farm support structures. The polycarbonate door ensures dimensional stability and impact resistance. The EPDM rubber seal maintains flexibility across a wide temperature range, and the stainless steel screws eliminate the risk of thread corrosion during repeated opening.

The dimensions of the enclosure itself are 215 × 210 × 133 mm, and after installing the PG cable glands, the depth increases to 240 mm. The set includes one PG-11 gland (for main conductors) and eight smaller PG-7 glands, allowing for the routing of cables from two strings plus any grounding or signal wires - without the need to purchase additional mounting elements.

The internal wiring is made of H07V-K 16 mm² wire in yellow-green (grounding), complying with the standards used in manufacturer-certified distribution boards.

The manufacturer has implemented a quality management system certified by TÜV SÜD and holds the ISO 9001:2015 certificate. The distribution box itself meets the requirements of the EU RoHS directive and the IEC 61439 construction standard, confirming its suitability for use as a panel element in professional electrical installations.
