Complete protection for photovoltaic installations
The DV-4548-FOT photovoltaic distribution board is a ready-made solution for protecting two DC strings and AC circuits in PV installations operating at voltages up to 1000V. The surface-mounted enclosure with dimensions 420 × 290 × 130 mm accommodates a TH rail with a width of 24 modules in two rows - a configuration sufficient to house all components without unnecessary crowding.
The manufacturer has equipped the distribution board with a SEZ 25A / 300mA / Type A RCCB (4-pole) and a SEZ B16A / Type S / 3P / 10kA MCB. This combination ensures protection against indirect contact - the Type S selective breaker eliminates the risk of unwanted tripping caused by current asymmetries generated by the inverter.
Enclosure and operating conditions
The IP65 protection rating means full dust tightness and resistance to water jets - the distribution board is suitable for both outdoors and damp technical rooms. The enclosure is made of technopolymer (manufacturer symbol 940.24), the door of polycarbonate, the seal of EPDM rubber, and the mounting screws of stainless steel. The gray color according to the RAL 7035 palette matches most facades and industrial interiors.
The distribution board includes 2× PG-21 and 1× PG-11 cable glands, allowing for the introduction of solar and grounding wires without additional purchases. The enclosure dimensions increase to 455 × 290 × 130 mm after installing the glands and connectors - this should be taken into account when planning the location.
Surge protection on both sides
On the DC side, two STPT12-5K1000V-YPV surge protective devices operate (one per string), capable of withstanding an impulse current of up to 40 kA at a protection voltage below 2 kV. The maximum operating voltage is 1060 V DC, so the safety margin is sufficient even in cold atmospheric conditions when the string voltage rises above the nominal value.
On the AC side, an STPT12-12K275V-4P surge protector of class T1+T2 is installed, which protects the inverter from surges originating from both the power grid and those caused by lightning near the installation. The maximum current reaches 50 kA here, and the protection level is below 1.3 kV.
Both categories of surge protectors comply with the relevant standards - DC: EN 50539-11 / IEC 61643-31, AC: EN/IEC 61643.
Wiring and compatibility
Inside the distribution board, BiT solar wires (black and red) with a cross-section of 6 mm² and H07V-K control cables (16 mm² yellow-green, 4 mm² blue and black) are pre-routed - the installer receives a product practically ready for connecting PV modules and the inverter.
The manufacturer pays special attention to the problem of incompatible connectors - European standards IEC 62548 and IEC 60364-7-712:2017 prohibit mixing DC connectors from different manufacturers due to the risk of contact resistance and overheating. Therefore, Doktorvolt includes a complete set of original Lapp solar connectors with every distribution board - both those installed at the factory (4× Epic Solar female + male MC4 Lapp) and an additional spare set (another 4× female + male) in case of failure or expansion.
The operating voltage of the connectors is the standard for MC4 1000 V AC/DC, and the protection rating of the connectors themselves is IP67.
