Wall-mounted charging station for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles

Wallbox Doktorvolt is a compact wall charger designed for home use - on private property, in a garage, or in a parking lot. The device enables alternating current (AC) charging in Mode-3 mode with a power ranging from 3.7 to 11 kW, allowing for efficient energy replenishment in electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.

The station is equipped with a cable 5 meters long, terminated with a Type 2 plug - the European standard used in most EV models available on the market. Compatibility includes, among others, Tesla Model 3/S/X/Y, BMW i3/i4/iX, Renault ZOE, Volkswagen ID family as well as e-Golf and e-up, Audi E-Tron, Kia EV6, Mercedes EQ, Hyundai IONIQ 5, or Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Vehicle communication and operation

Communication between the station and the connected car is handled by an intelligent charging controller. It monitors the process and automatically interrupts charging if an error is detected - e.g., an incorrect signal from the vehicle or an installation failure. This protects both the building's electrical installation and the car's charging system from damage.

Operating the wallbox is intuitive thanks to the START/STOP button with a backlit main switch and optical LED signaling informing about the current charging status. The user can see in real-time whether the vehicle is connected, charging is in progress, or if a problem has occurred requiring intervention.

Built-in electrical protections

The device contains all necessary protective elements factory-mounted inside the housing - there is no need to purchase or install them separately:

• Three-phase C16A overcurrent circuit breaker (breaking capacity according to the manufacturer's catalog data) - protects the circuit against overload,
• RCD residual current device type A (40A/30mA) along with an RCM module - detects current leakage and disconnects the power in a fraction of a second,
• PG16 cable gland allowing for a tight entry of the power cable into the housing.

The housing also features an inspection window for 12 modules, allowing for installation expansion or component replacement without dismantling the entire device.

Resistance to weather conditions as well as certificates and standards

The IP54 protection rating means dust-tightness and resistance to water splashes from any direction - the wallbox can be mounted outside a building without additional shielding. The housing plastic has been designed for durability in outdoor conditions - it is resistant to UV radiation and maintains its mechanical properties through many years of solar exposure.

The operating temperature range of from -20°C to +50°C ensures the device performs well during both freezing winter nights and hot summer days. The housing dimensions are 355 × 255 × 125 mm, and the color scheme of the grey front plate and black rear plate allows for aesthetic matching with the facade or garage interior.

The manufacturer holds the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certificate, and the device itself has passed testing by the TÜV SÜD certification body. The Wallbox meets the requirements of the EU CE directive and technical standards:

• IEC 61439 - regarding switchgear and controlgear assemblies,
• EN 62196-2 - specifying parameters for plugs and socket-outlets for electric vehicle charging.
