Surge protective device for photovoltaics TYPE 1+2 1000VDC SPPVRT12-10-2+PE EP-501955
Surge Protective Device for DC Photovoltaic Systems
The SPPVRT12-10-2+PE surge protective device is an advanced protective device dedicated to photovoltaic systems with voltages up to 1000V DC. The T1+T2 class product (formerly B+C) provides comprehensive protection against the effects of both direct and indirect atmospheric discharges.
The device is suitable for various applications - from rooftop installations in residential buildings and ground-mounted systems to large photovoltaic farms. Thanks to its universal design, it can be used in both grounded and ungrounded PV installations.
Technology and Characteristics
At the heart of the device is a high-quality varistor cartridge made using MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor) technology, which ensures an immediate response to dangerous voltage increases in the DC side of the installation.
Electrical Parameters
The device operates with a rated voltage of DC 1000V and a maximum continuous operating voltage of 1000V DC. The rated discharge current (8/20μs) reaches 20kA, and the lightning impulse current (10/350μs) is 6.25kA. The voltage protection level remains at 3.8kV for all circuit configurations (L-N, DC+-DC-, DC+/DC--PE). The response time is less than 25ns, ensuring an instantaneous reaction to surges.
Environmental Parameters
The surge protective device can operate in temperatures from -40°C to +85°C, making it resistant to extreme weather conditions. The IP20 protection rating guarantees safe operation inside electrical distribution boards, and the maximum installation altitude can reach 4000m above sea level.
Safety and Compliance with Standards
The SPPVRT12-10-2+PE surge protective device has been designed in accordance with the latest version of the IEC 61643-31:2018 standard, guaranteeing the highest standards of safety and reliability.
The device holds the following certificates:
- CE - compliance with European directives
- RoHS conform - free from hazardous substances
The built-in thermal protection protects against overheating during prolonged surge loads, and the special design allows for safe operation at temperatures reaching +85°C.
Practical Benefits of Use
Mounting the device is extremely simple - it is installed on a standard TH-35mm DIN rail, occupying only 3 modules. Compact dimensions (95×86×54mm) allow for placement in any standard electrical distribution board.
Connection Possibilities
The installer can use single-core wires with a cross-section of 30-35mm² or multi-core/flexible wires up to 25mm². The device supports 2 supply wires without grounding, which simplifies the installation process and reduces the risk of mounting errors.
The device is equipped with a clear optical status signaling - the LED glows green when the device is functional and changes color to red in the event of a cartridge failure.
A key advantage is the replaceable varistor cartridges. In the event of damage, it is sufficient to pull out the damaged element without the need to replace the entire unit - this significantly reduces maintenance costs and installation downtime.
