Halogen-free power cable – safety and reliability in one insulation

This N2XH-J 3x4 RE 0.6/1 kV power cable is designed for installers and users who prioritize safety and minimize fire risk. Constructed with copper conductors of 4 mm² cross-section, insulated with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) and an outer sheath made of polyolefin, it ensures reliable power transmission in electrical installations. Crucially, the cable is halogen-free, meaning it emits significantly fewer toxic gases during a fire—making it essential for public buildings, hospitals, and other locations with enhanced safety requirements.

Construction and applications

The N2XH-J cable is designed for fixed installations, both indoors and outdoors (provided UV protection is ensured). Thanks to its construction and properties, it performs excellently in:

• Alarm and fire protection systems.

Its round shape simplifies installation and cable routing, while the absence of armor makes it relatively lightweight and easy to handle. Stranded conductors enhance cable flexibility.

Safety first – Class B2ca

The cable complies with the B2ca classification according to EN 13501-6, guaranteeing high fire performance characteristics:

• Limited flammability: Self-extinguishing material slows the spread of fire.
• Low smoke emission (s1b): In case of fire, significantly less smoke is produced, facilitating evacuation and rescue operations.
• No burning droplets/particles (d0): Eliminates the risk of fire spreading via flaming debris.
• Low acidity of combustion gases (a1): Minimizes corrosion of electronic equipment.

Thanks to these properties, the N2XH-J cable provides a safe solution for installations in areas with high fire protection requirements. The maximum allowable conductor operating temperature is 90°C, ensuring long-term and stable performance even under heavy load. The minimum bending radius for fixed installations is 128.4 mm—this must be considered when designing the cable route.
