Halogen-free power cable N2XH-J – safety and reliability in one insulation
The N2XH-J 0.6/1 kV power cable is an advanced solution designed for fixed installations to transmit electrical energy. Constructed with copper conductors of 70 mm² cross-section, insulated with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), it ensures safe and efficient power transmission. The cable’s design minimizes fire risk: the use of halogen-free materials significantly reduces the emission of toxic gases during combustion, which is critical for the safety of people and equipment.
Construction and applications
The N2XH-J cable consists of five stranded copper conductors, enhancing flexibility and simplifying installation. The absence of armor makes the cable lighter and easier to route, a feature appreciated by installers. The outer sheath, made of polyolefin, provides resistance to mechanical damage and environmental factors. This cable type is widely used in:
- Power installations in residential and industrial buildings
- Underground cable lines
- Tunnels and cable ducts
- Applications requiring high fire resistance and minimal emission of toxic gases during combustion.
Safety and compliance with standards
The N2XH-J cable complies with stringent safety standards, including fire reaction class Dca according to EN 13501-6. This means that in the event of a fire, the cable limits flame spread and emits less toxic smoke than conventional cables. Additionally, the cable features low smoke emission (s2) and no dripping or flaming particles (d0), further enhancing safety. The cable also has acid index class a1, indicating no corrosion caused by gases released during combustion. The minimum bending radius is 462 mm, which must be considered during installation. The maximum allowable conductor temperature is 90°C.
