VVT-D3 12kV/20A fuse link is an element designed to protect medium voltage (MV) electrical and power equipment against the effects of overloads and short circuits. It is suitable for protecting cables, transformers, motors, and capacitor banks. The design with a thermal trigger provides additional protection against uncontrolled temperature increases, which is particularly important in specific applications.
Characteristics and application
VV series fuse links, and especially the VVT-D3 model, are characterized by high reliability and the ability to switch off short-circuit currents of up to 63 kA. Equipped with a thermal trigger, they activate the circuit breaker with a force of 80N when the body of the fuse link reaches a temperature of approximately 120°C – regardless of the source of heat. This solution minimizes the risk of damage caused by prolonged overload. Therefore, they are recommended for use in switchgear with SF6 gas.
