VV fuse links are a proven protection element in medium voltage networks. Designed to protect electrical and power equipment in MV networks (cables, conductors, transformers, motors, capacitor banks) against the effects of short circuits and overloads. The VVT-D3 model, equipped with a thermal trigger, also protects against uncontrolled temperature increases, which is particularly important in SF6 gas switchgear.
Construction and operating principle
VVT-D3 fuse links are characterized by the presence of a thermal trigger. Its task is to activate the striker with a force of 80N when the temperature of the fuse body reaches approx. 120°C – regardless of the cause of the temperature increase. This design ensures a quick and reliable response to the hazard, minimizing the risk of damage. The striker indicates the operation of the fuse link and enables the activation of the fuse-disconnecting mechanism. Additionally, these fuse links have a reliable sealing system protecting against moisture and a high-strength ceramic tube. Galvanically protected contacts made of electrolytic copper coated with nickel (Ni) ensure a durable connection and minimize the risk of corrosion.

The VVT-D3 24kV/20A fuse link has a breaking capacity of 63kA, guaranteeing effective circuit interruption in the event of a high-current short circuit. The rated current of this fuse link is 20A at a rated voltage of 24kV AC and a frequency of 50/60Hz. The cold resistance is 76 mΩ and the power loss is 39.5W. The minimum pre-arcing integral I²t min is 450 A²s and the maximum switching integral I²t max is 7000 A²s. These values demonstrate the high efficiency and reliability of the device.
