ETITEC M T2 PV 600/20 RC surge protector is a key element in protecting photovoltaic installations from the effects of lightning strikes and overvoltages. The device is designed to protect against the effects of lightning strikes in DC systems, ensuring continuous operation and minimizing the risk of damage. Installing a surge protector is an investment in the long-term stability and safety of the entire installation.

Design and operation

The T2 surge protector (class C) is designed for mounting on a TH-35 mm DIN rail, making it easy to integrate with existing electrical infrastructure. Compact dimensions – only 3 modules – allow for saving space in the switchgear. The device is characterized by a high level of protection of 1.9 kV and the ability to dissipate peak current pulses of 20 kA (8/20 µs). A built-in remote signaling contact allows for quick identification of any surge protector operation, which is particularly important in monitoring the installation status. Optical signaling on the housing additionally informs about the need to check the device.

Application and benefits

This surge protector is dedicated to DC photovoltaic systems with a rated voltage of up to 600 V. The use of MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor) technology ensures effective protection against overvoltages, and compliance with DC network systems guarantees universal application. The maximum wire cross-section of up to 35 mm² (solid/stranded) and 25 mm² (flexible) allows connection of a wide range of power cables. This makes the device suitable for both small and large photovoltaic installations, providing comprehensive protection against damage caused by sudden voltage changes. The degree of protection IP20 provides adequate protection against touch, but the device is not intended for outdoor use.
