The TO-2000-5 current transformer is a single-phase measuring device designed for precise monitoring of installations with high currents up to 2000A. Thanks to its split-core design, it allows for easy installation on existing conductors without the need to disconnect them - which is particularly important in retrofitted industrial installations.
Design and principle of operation
The device operates on the principle of electromagnetic transformation, where the conductor with the measured current (P1/P2) acts as a single-turn primary winding. The ferromagnet core made of high-quality materials ensures a linear processing characteristic throughout the entire operating range.
Electrical parameters and measurement accuracy
A ratio of 2000/5A with a rated burden of 10 VA guarantees high accuracy of class 0.5. A safety factor FS < 5 protects the device from damage during transient overloads.
The rated secondary current is standardly 5A - the most popular value used in measuring instruments. A maximum operating voltage of 0.66 kV AC and an insulation breakdown voltage of 3 kV/1 min ensure safe operation in typical low-voltage power grids.
Operational safety and installation recommendations
The device requires strict adherence to safety rules during installation and operation. It is forbidden to disconnect the secondary circuit during operation - this poses a risk of electric shock or device damage due to the appearance of high voltage.
Mandatory grounding of the S2 terminal is required for personal safety and protection against electromagnetic interference. It is recommended to connect the secondary using a conductor with a minimum diameter of 2.5 mm² to minimize power losses.
The secondary circuit must be kept continuously closed by a load resistance (meter or shunt resistor). Breaking this circuit induces a dangerous voltage in the range of several kilovolts.
Installation, operating conditions, and dimensions
The measuring aperture with dimensions of 80×121 mm allows for the handling of busbars and single conductors of significant diameters without the need for mechanical modification.
Installation is performed on a switchboard using standard mounting elements - the manufacturer allows both vertical and horizontal orientation without affecting measurement accuracy.
The tightening torque for S1/S2 screw connections is standardly 0.5 Nm to ensure reliable electrical contact for conductors with a cross-section up to 4 mm².
The device maintains full functionality in temperatures from -15°C to +50°C. The IP20 protection rating protects against contact with live parts and access to solid objects larger than 12mm.
The operating frequency covers the standard European range of 50÷60 Hz while maintaining metrological parameters across the entire frequency spectrum.
