Cathodic protection for tanks – magnesium anode with brass cap

The magnesium anode with a 2” cap is a key element of the cathodic protection system, providing effective protection against corrosion of domestic hot water tanks. Used in water heaters and accumulators, it protects metal elements from corrosive agents, extending their service life and ensuring safe use. Its construction, based on high-purity magnesium, guarantees efficient operation and long-lasting protection.

Construction and application

The anode consists of several components: a magnesium core, a 2” brass cap, an o-ring, and an anode/cap seal. This design ensures a tight connection and easy replacement of the anode when it is used up. The brass cap is characterized by high corrosion resistance, which further increases the durability of the entire system. The anode is mounted by screwing it onto the tank using a 56 socket wrench.

The anode is compatible with a wide range of Galmet tanks, including:

• SG(S) series with capacities of 700l, 720l, 1000l and 1500l
• SGW(S) series with capacities of 500l, 700l, 720l, 1000l and 1500l
• SGW(S) Maxi series with capacities of 300l, 400l, 500l, 720l and 1000l
• SGW(S)B series with capacities of 500l, 720l, 1000l and 1500l
• SGW(S)B Slim series with capacities of 800l and 1000l
• SGW(S)B Maxi Plus series with capacities of 300l, 400l and 500l
• SGW(S) Slim series with capacities of 800l and 1000l

Additionally, the anode is compatible with older models of tanks manufactured before August 2013 (models designated by catalog numbers: 22-704666).
