Column beacon interface – simple connection and configuration

The CB-ST interface is a practical solution for connecting ST column beacons (ST-3s and ST-3s/EX models) to the dry contact outputs of MDD, MD and MDP control modules. It enables easy integration of optical-acoustic signaling with the control system, as well as flexible configuration of beacon operating parameters. This gives installers and end-users full control over how various alarm and failure states are signaled.

Functionality and capabilities

The CB-ST interface allows for precise adjustment of the beacon's operation to specific application needs. Configuration options include:

• LED lamp control: setting the 3 lamps to continuous or pulsing mode.
• Audible signaling: activating the built-in siren and assigning its operation to ALARM1, ALARM2, ALARM3 or FAILURE states.
• Siren operating modes: setting a continuous or intermittent signal.
• Failure signaling: the ability to set the FAILURE state as a pulsing green light with the option to activate the siren sound.

The interface is housed in a sealed terminal box, ensuring safe installation outside areas at risk of gas or dust explosions.

Construction and mounting

The CB-ST is characterized by a compact design with dimensions of 100 x 112 x 40 mm. It features:

• 24V= power supply with an indicator light showing the presence of voltage.
• 1A fuse protecting the power circuit (required when controlling the ST-3s/Ex beacon).
• Four terminals for setting the lamp pulsing function, siren activation and pulsing, and the method of signaling the FAILURE state.
• Removable connectors facilitate connection of the cable from the column beacon (7 wires), the power cable (2 wires) and the cable connecting to the dry contact outputs of the control module (4 wires).

The interface allows connection of one ST-3s or ST-3s/Ex beacon in any configuration, as well as parallel connection of up to three ST-3s beacons with lighting/siren only in continuous mode. The housing is without cable glands and sealed (IP44) with membrane grommets.
