MS-24.DK Sensory Module – Simultaneously Detects Carbon Monoxide and Natural Gas

The MS-24.DK module is a semiconductor sensor that monitors the presence of carbon monoxide (CO) and methane (CH₄) in a single device. There is no need to install two separate detectors – one integrated with the DK-24 system is sufficient. This solution reduces the number of mounting points, simplifies installation, and minimizes the risk of overlooking one of the hazards.

Easy Replacement and Diagnostics Without Disassembly

There is no need to disassemble the entire detector when calibration or replacement is required. The module can be removed and replaced manually – even while the system is operating. The internal processor records the operating history: number of alarms, time spent in alarm state, range exceedances, and errors. This allows the installer to assess whether the sensor operated under appropriate conditions or if it became poisoned – e.g., due to prolonged exposure to high gas concentrations. If necessary, the module can be quickly swapped for another – for example, when the fuel type in the boiler room changes – without the need to replace the entire system.

Alarm Thresholds and Measurement Ranges for Both Gases

The sensor responds to carbon monoxide at concentrations of 50 ppm (first alarm level), 100 ppm, and 300 ppm (maximum). For methane, the alarm threshold is 15% LEL – corresponding to 15% of the lower explosive limit. The measurement range covers 20 to 1000 ppm for CO and 5 to 40% LEL for methane. This means the module operates effectively at both low, yet dangerous concentrations, and at maximum values prior to explosion.

Application in Areas with Multiple Risks

Ideally suited for locations where both flue gas sources and natural gas are present simultaneously: boiler rooms with gas boilers lacking flue gas sensors, kitchens with gas stoves featuring open combustion chambers, basements with gas meters or cylinders, private garages with gas heating, and rooms with wood- or coal-burning fireplaces. All these locations can generate CO – and if a gas installation is present, also the risk of methane leakage.

Compliance and Reliability

The module is part of GAZEX systems calibrated in an in-house laboratory in accordance with PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025. Its design allows operation at 230 V~ – like most domestic detectors of this type. Dimensions are compatible with the DK-24 series: 85 x 140 x 55 mm – thus requiring no modification of the enclosure or mounting space.
