Gas detectors – reliable protection and control

The DG/M series digital detectors are devices designed for continuous monitoring of gas presence in various environments – from industrial plants and logistics centers to public utility facilities. Their task is to measure the gas concentration in the air and activate an alarm signal when permissible norms are exceeded. Alarm information is transmitted to the digital supervisory module via the RS-485 standard.

These detectors are used wherever there is a risk of emission of toxic or explosive gases, as well as in large rooms requiring constant monitoring. A key feature of these devices is the ability to exchange sensory modules – semiconductor, electrochemical or optical – which facilitates maintenance, calibration and reduces operating costs.

Construction and functionality

DG/M detectors are characterized by a solid construction and are adapted to work in difficult industrial conditions. They have a splash-proof housing made of high-impact ABS (IP44) and two cable glands facilitating the connection of subsequent detectors in a system. The built-in microprocessor ensures reliability and stability of operation, and the thermal compensation system minimizes the impact of temperature changes on the accuracy of measurements. Additionally, the detectors store a history of alarm states, which facilitates event analysis and identification of potential problems.

Communication is via the RS-485 port with the MODBUS RTU protocol, enabling easy integration with existing control and monitoring systems. Detector settings are configured using the dedicated "DETnet View" software. All detectors are calibrated in their own GAZEX Calibration Laboratory, accredited in accordance with the PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard (PCA accreditation No. AP150), which guarantees their accuracy and measurement reliability.

DG-4E/M model specifics – ammonia

The DG-4E/M model was designed specifically for detecting ammonia in the concentration range of 500/800 ppm. It uses an electrochemical gas sensor, which is characterized by high selectivity and measurement accuracy. This sensor is resistant to temporary increases in ammonia concentration, however, prolonged exposure to high concentrations may require calibration or replacement of the sensory module. This detector is used in cold stores, sewage treatment plants and other facilities where there is a risk of ammonia emissions. The use of an electrochemical sensor allows for a precise determination of ammonia concentration even at low levels of hazard.
