RS-485/USB Converter – Serial Communication with Computer

The MDD-CV/T converter enables communication between a computer and devices equipped with an RS-485 interface. This is particularly useful in automation, monitoring, and control systems where the RS-485 standard is commonly used. This converter is designed to work with CSDG supervisory modules, such as MDD-256/T, allowing you to view their operation and control functions using MDD256 View software or configure detectors via DETnet View.

The MDD-CV/T converter is powered directly from the computer's USB port, eliminating the need for an external power supply. The USB-C connector provides a modern and convenient way to connect. Compact dimensions (18 x 90 x 65 mm) and the ability to mount on a standard TS35 rail make it easy to integrate the device into existing infrastructure.

Functionality and application

The MDD-CV/T converter uses the RS-485 communication standard (MODBUS RTU protocol) to transmit data between the computer and devices on the serial network. The RS-485 port terminals are removable and screwless, making it easy to connect wires – single-core wires with a diameter of 0.5 mm² are recommended. This allows for quick and easy connection to other devices equipped with this interface.

The device requires the installation of virtual COM port drivers on a Windows computer. After installing the drivers, the converter will be recognized by the operating system as a standard COM port, allowing you to use it in various applications and programs.
