Gas Detection Alarm Module

The MDP-16.Z/M measurement alarm module is a central element of gas detection systems, designed to work with various types of sensors – both measurement and threshold. The device provides reliable control and power to detectors, and also enables control of shut-off valves in the event of a dangerous gas concentration being detected. Thanks to the RS-485 port and relay outputs, the module integrates with existing building automation infrastructure or a security system.

Functionality and application

The MDP-16.Z/M is designed to work with GAZEX DEX/P, DG/P, DEX/F, DEX/A, DG/F, DG.EN series detectors and other devices equipped with a relay output (using K-8P or K-16P concentrators). The module monitors the operation of up to 16 detectors simultaneously, controlling the current drawn by each of them – in the event of a failure of one of the sensors, it automatically disconnects its power supply, without disrupting the operation of the others. The “Z” version allows control of two shut-off valves and monitors their connection status.

The module offers advanced configuration functions: assigning alarm levels to detectors (including two configurable and one fixed), calculating average concentrations of toxic gases (NDS and NDSCh), selecting measurement units, and dividing detectors into two independent zones. Additional operating modes – “QUIET OPERATION”, “SERVICE MODE” and “AUTO RESET” – increase flexibility and facilitate system servicing.

Construction and characteristics

The MDP-16.Z/M module is characterized by a solid construction and easy installation thanks to removable screw terminals. It has a built-in battery backup to ensure continuous operation in the event of a 230V~ mains power failure. It is equipped with an LCD display showing current measurement values and alarm or emergency status messages. Thanks to the RS-485 port, integration with BMS (Building Management System) is possible via the MODBUS RTU protocol and data visualization using the MD16 View software (available on the manufacturer's website). The device has a 36-month manufacturer's warranty.
