Sensory module MS-14/NGAZEX Methane, selective, industrial
MS-14/N Sensory Module – Selective Methane Detector for Industrial Systems
The MS-14/N module is a replaceable, intelligent sensing element equipped with a semiconductor methane (CH₄) sensor, designed for operation within the GAZEX gas detection systems. It contains not only the sensor but also all the electronics required for calibration and storage of operational history – enabling module replacement or calibration without the need to disassemble the entire detector.
This solution significantly reduces maintenance costs and downtime. An installer can quickly replace a faulty or expired module with a new, calibrated one – without accessing the control panel, without reprogramming the system, and without shutting down the entire installation. In practice: there is no need to interrupt plant operations to update gas detection.
The module operates in conjunction with detectors of the DEX-14/N, DG-14/M, DG-14/MR types, and other compatible devices. Its key advantage is two fixed alarm thresholds: 10% LEL and 30% LEL – suitable for detecting methane leaks in industrial environments where explosion risk is real. The 40% LEL value (in some models) serves as an additional warning level or emergency signal.
The built-in microprocessor tracks the number of alarms, time spent in alarm state, and measurement range exceedances – these data are available during calibration and allow for analysis of operating conditions. If the technological process in the plant changes – for example, other gases are introduced – it is sufficient to replace the module with another one (e.g., MS-22/NL for CO), while the entire system continues to operate without modifications.
The module is compatible with both explosion-proof (ATEX) and standard construction detectors – providing flexibility when designing systems for different hazard zones. In the case of DEX-14/N-S (ATEX), the module can be used in zones 1 and 2, where there is a risk of explosion from gas groups IIA/IIB/IIC.
It does not require on-site calibration – all settings are stored in the module and transferred upon replacement. This means that even if the sensor was calibrated at the GAZEX laboratory (in accordance with PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025), its parameters remain unchanged after installation.
All technical data are contained within the module – there is no need for manual entry of thresholds or parameters. The system automatically "reads" the module.
The module dimensions are not provided separately – it is part of the detector (e.g., DEX-14/N: 105 x 103 x 54 mm; DG-14/M: 110 x 140 x 55 mm). Installation is performed through the integrated detector housing – the module is merely its heart.
