Gas detector DG-14/M methane (selective), 10/30% LEL, p-p sensor, RS485

Gas detectors – reliable protection and control

The DG/M series gas detectors are devices designed for continuous monitoring of gas presence in various spaces – from industrial plants and logistics centers to public utility facilities. Their task is to measure the gas concentration in the air and activate an alarm signal when permissible norms are exceeded. Alarm information is transmitted to the digital supervisory module via the RS-485 network, ensuring a quick response and effective protection.

DG/M detectors are characterized by a modular design, allowing for the replacement of sensor modules – semiconductor, electrochemical, or optical (Infra-Red). This construction facilitates maintenance, simplifies calibration, and reduces operating costs. Replacing the module allows adaptation of the detector to specific application needs and the type of gas being monitored.

Construction and application

These devices are designed to work with the GAZEX Digital Gas Detection System. These are detectors with a conventional construction, which means they cannot be used in areas at risk of explosion from gases, vapors, or dust. Their scope of application primarily includes industrial plants and large rooms where there is a risk of emissions of toxic or explosive gases.

Advantages and benefits

  • Versatility: ability to select sensors for specific applications and monitored gases.

  • Reliability: built-in microprocessor ensures stable operation and semi-automatic addressing in the digital network without the need to open the housing.

  • Precision: thermal compensation system minimizes the impact of temperature changes on measurement accuracy.

  • Alarm history: the detector records the history of alarm states, which facilitates event analysis and identification of potential problems.

  • Easy installation: removable screwless terminals allow connection of two FTP cables.

  • Durability: splash-proof housing made of high-impact ABS (IP44) provides protection against moisture and mechanical damage.

  • Flexibility: two cable glands facilitate connecting subsequent detectors in a through system.

  • Clear signaling: selective LED optical signaling informs about the detector's status and any alarms.

  • Expandability: optional possibility of equipping with an additional cover made of steel pipes or a housing for a ventilation duct, as well as a relay output module (upgrade to DG/MR version).

  • Configuration: configuration of detector settings using dedicated configuration software „DETnet View”.

  • Calibration: all detectors are calibrated in their own GAZEX Calibrating Laboratory accredited in accordance with the PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard (PCA accreditation No. AP150).

Particular attention should be paid to the DG-14/M model, which is dedicated to the selective detection of methane in the concentration range of 10/30% LEL (Lower Explosive Limit). The semiconductor sensor provides a quick response to changes in methane concentration, and the RS-485 communication with the MODBUS RTU protocol enables integration with automation and monitoring systems. This value allows it to react more slowly to short current surges, making it well-suited for starting devices with an engine.
